Why do teams always wait to attack teams?

Why do teams always wait till the last part of the game to attack a team downfield when they don't do it all game long? I mean how many times did Bledsoe throw downfield? Twice. One was to T.O. which drew a pass interference, and one to Glenn for a long completion. Why that late? If anything take the chance, eight times out of ten it would draw a PI, or a completion. Playing conservative is definately going to be our demise, we have to attack!!!

I ask myself the same thing. a lil' off topic here, but its kinda like in soccer. I'm a soccer fan, and sumtimes teams play so conservative and the other team scores, and with 2 mins left in the game all of a sudden they are in a hurry to tie it up or sumthing. its like..why dont you play like this from the beginning?

play every play like its the last.......something like that

it seems like parcells takes pleasure in those two yard runs up the middle he loves a good ole 3 and out and hates to actually stretch a defense this must change for it is boring and annoying.

to answer the original question, it's because teams play prevent D when they're up, late in the 4th, it's easy to complete passes against a prevent D

Yeah, but I disagree with Chan Gailey's comments when he was coach about, "taking what the defense gives you," which I hated. What if the defense doesn't give you anything? My original question was meant to say, make the defense adjust to you. The Cowboys need to set the tempo and take what they want!! Attack downfield, they can't stop Glenn and T.O. going downfield!! Not the Jags corners!!

That was a good call. Under any other circumstances that was golden. You people need to understand that playing Jax IN Jax is the worst opening day sceneario possible......for any visiting team. The guys were gassed and the blocking fell apart. I liked/agreed with the call.

The gassed excuse doesnt fly. They practice every day in Texas. Not exactly the mildest temperatures/conditions.

it's not as humid in TX as it is down south, but I don't buy that excuse either, and it is an excuse

Nor do hogs.
You're all fat and happy sitting in your blown out lazy-boy being the professional arm chair QB. In a "balmy" 75 degrees with the A/C blastin'.

NOT even close to Jacksonville in Sept. in one of the wettest seasons on record. Next chump.

The gassed excuse does fly when badsoe is doing nothing but giving his defense bad field position and no time to rest on a VERY consistent basis with his bonehead passes and nonstop 3 and outs.

And let Bledsoe throw a red zone interception?

I DON'T THINK SO!

Thanx for your opinion doctor. Your way off base here. The humidity factor increases the body's loss of fluids and causes the muscles to cramp and shut down. Fatigue is the body's only defense to try and reduce water loss. It is a huge part of athletics as is altitude.
FYI....I didn't use it as an excuse. It's fact.

Well if we go about it like that, we should never throw when Bledsoe is back there.

I understand the draw on 3 and long when you're back in your territory. Don't want to give up a big play and give them good field position. But when you're in scoring position with a horrible kicker I think you have to go for it. A couple extra yards wasn't make that big of a difference at that range. Atleast you could take a shot into the back of the endzone where you can minimize the chance for turnover.

I lived in Texas and in South florida, Texas is much hotter than Floida in sept. , and it's not even close...

you have 53 players you brought with you to the game.. theres no excuse for being tired. you can't tell me Thompson, Hanham, Hurd and Rector wouldn't have flipped their S*** if Parcells gave them an opportunity to get in and make a play.

I feel they don't do things like this b/c of Texas Tech though... You open your offense so much, it becomes a shootout rather than a game. instead of who controls the game, it becomes a situation where you score fast, your opponent feels the heat and does the same thing. and next thing you know the scores like 42-40 or something.

I do agree though we could be bold more often. My high school and semi pro team now both do the same thing, the first play of the game is almost always a play action deep pass, or a deep pass of some sort, to get the defense on their heels right away. Set the tone in the beginning, let the d think you have lost your mind and you might call ANYTHING at ANYTIME. it works well

haha.

A: I dont have a lazy-boy, nor recliner. The closest thing is my office chair which has the stiff or lean feature.

B: My A/C is set around 70 degrees year-round. I like it cool.

C: So Bledsoe can excuse himself from the poor performance due to bad weather ? Didnt he play in NE and Buffalo, not to mention Washington State.

Gimme a break bro.

As far as the humidity excuse... hello... they make gatorade for a reason.

TIME OF POSSESSION.

Parcells is BIG on it. He has a statistic in his head (which I am sure is correct) that a large percentage of gamewinning teams also won the time of possession battle.

But I think that's the focus for teams with an average group of offensive talent.
We have an exceptional group of talent on offense and need to strike early, then hold the ball with a large lead.

In his defense, I did see a lot of empty backfield, 5 wide plays early.
