Why do we jump offsides so often?

Anyone with knowledge of the team care to explain why we jump offsides so often. Not only that, we gave them like 5 first downs between the offsides and needless holding by Mo. Is there not an accountability issue on defense? You simply can't give up first downs and win against most teams. The Eagles are a train wreck.

Trying to get a jump on the ball, but when you're just good at pass rushing, you don't need an advantage. Stop jumping off sides, these things aid in losing games.

Looks like corners were being given instructions to jam pretty hard, which makes sense against these receivers.

As for the ones on the DL, just hard count. Coaching and repetition of drills on this in practice fix it, but we clearly didn't spend time on it. I don't think of Vick as having an especially deceptive cadence.

Nope, it won't change. We might get even more in the future because I think the coaching staff encourages it or they really don't mind the risk because of the reward of timing it perfectly and getting a jump on the snap. Who knows...it's been a problem for years and it won't change.

They jumped the shark years ago when it comes to penalties

We apparently couldn't handle their hard count.

Question: are we the only team in the league that faces hard counts?

Every team faces hard couns every week. The Cowboys seem to be the only team who have no ability to deal with it. And there seems to be no accountability from the coaches, because it keeps happening.

Because the team is undisciplined, and it's been that way for years. Haven't you noticed?

Have none of you actually played football?

Most players have tells as to when the ball will be snapped. For example, the obvious, when the Center looks in his legs and then at the defense for a half second to snap in shotgun. Or a OT staring at his assignment.

And when you're guessing to get a jump obviously you will screw it up. But we plainly need to dial it back after we have bad luck with it in games.

I have, and that is a big reason we continue to be a 500 ball club. You can't "give" teams 3rd down conversions and you can't turn the ball over.

Players needing an edge because they are getting their butts handed to them and a head coach - not to be confused by the head head coach Jerry Jones, that does not enforce any kind of discipline.

Just spitballing here, but could the Eagles have seen something on the Dallas D that made them try and do more hard counts, why else would Dallas all of a sudden be getting so many offsides (I've never seen so many in one game)?

The DLs and OLBs are too lazy to watch the ball being snapped. This is a basic fundamental defensive action. Hatcher should have been pulled from the game and benched. Ware has offside penalties but many are questionable because his reaction time off the Line Of Scrimmage is out of this world. Ware gets sacks on a consistant basis. Hatcher gets a Sack once in a while. I wish Hatcher developed into a Leonard Marshal from the NY Giants in the 80s/90s in order to support Ware. Marshall helped LT gets many additional sacks that LT would have never gotten if he had Hatcher playing DE.

Undisciplined teams committ undisciplined penalties. It's really just that simple. It happens game after game after game.

The Heck with jumping offside, how about lining up off sides.

TWICE!!!!!!!!!!!:banghead:

Because nobody is afraid of the repercussions of making stupid mistakes that can (and will) ultimately cost you football games..unless Garrett's idea of punishment is making you watch him clap his hands like a moron on the sidelines..

Do you watch other football games? Plenty of teams do it. Last night seemed to be way out of line, but these things happen every week in the NFL.

It happens to us EVERY game. Most of the time more than once per game. What did we have yesterday? 5 or 6? Not acceptable.

The teams horrible discipline.
Simple and correct.

I'm surprised it took so many posts to get to this sentence :laugh2:

There's nothing more to it than a lack of discipline. The fact that a guy like Hatcher doesn't get taken out after his start to the game is really disappointing.
