We know why we lost:
1)Bubble wrapped starters in preseason.
2)Linehan’s playcalling is lame.
3)The OL is not the same.
4)Carolina is a playoff team.
5)Dak needs work as a passer.

But here’s my question?
If the Cowboys are irrelevant crap, if they lose to a team most of the “experts” picked them to lose to, WHY were they so talked about today? Most of the “experts” were picking the Saints to go deep, favored to beat Tampa, yet they lost, and hardly a mention! Why?

When/why is the “expected” a bigger story than the “unexpected”?

Thought I might get at least 1 or 2 replies, if only because it’s not just another “Garrett Sucks” or “We’re Doomed Forever” threads!

Where is this a really big story?

Because it's the Cowboys. Media gets attention and rating by talking about the Cowboys.

The Cowboys have not competed for a NFCG in 20 plus years, but yet, how many primetime games do they get. What ratings do those games get. The Cowboys for better or worse, get ratings. Thus, they have to talk about them.

I am not sure Carolina is a playoff team. They will be in the hunt, but if they lose Olsen for any amount of time, that will hurt. Despite playing the pitiful Cowboys, they only won by 8.

Cowboys are a story more so than the Saints because:

1) America's Team
2) Most valuable franchise in the league and world

Meaning they draw the most eyes. Be it to a game or to a talk show.

Where is this a really big story?

1)It’s not a big story, just something for us to talk about besides the usual worn out stuff.
2)This was was the either the first or second thing they talked about on places like Undisputed and First Take.

Their wide outs are worse than the Cowboys. Their D is legit but it cannot carry them very deep.

Exactly! Yet people like Steven A. (The Elf from Bad Santa) constantly scream about how irrelevant Dallas is, how Green Bay or Pittsburgh is America’s Team. While I don’t care much for the nickname, it DOES seem to really jack some people up!

Because the Cowboys will be talked about regardless of the situation and even more so this week leading into the big game on SNF against the NYG and I would be surprised if this one doesn't buck the downward spiraling ratings trend.

Add to this that abrupt exit by Booger and lack of the omnipresent interviews and there's fire for the smoke. Fire under the HC's seat that the media is just dying to fan into a blaze. I can assure you, 99% of the analysts were overjoyed at the Cowboys losing and can now do a reverse off the amazing rookies of 2016 to what the hell happened? They love having Cowboys negative to fuel the calls from the fans and haters.

What is amusing about this is the Cowboys weren't picked to win this game, it was not an upset like what TB did to NO. They were not a playoff team, didn't make any noticeable acquisitions, didn't play the key players in pretend games and were playing a playoff team on the road with a very good D, particularly run D.

What I do not get is the overreaction from posters here because their expectations were not met. How in the hell any fan can look at an offense with 4 new offensive starters, 3 in key positions, no appreciable gain on the offense in the off season, a struggling QB in the last half of 2017, an offense that has not played enough together and other than playing the Eagles or Vikings, couldn't have a tougher opponent against the run to kick off the season away.

The media likes to build us up so they have stories all week if we lose. When we win you barely hear about us. Until we win 4 or 5, then they build us up again.

Yesterday was disgusting. Unacceptable playcalling. No execution because the Offense had the preseason off. Defense was the only bright spot and Lee missed a handful of tackles because he had the preseason off.

Easy, don't watch that tool.

Weren’t they 11-5 and in the playoffs last year? Might not be now though, without Olsen.

We have the biggest fan base around the world so it gets clicks, views, and mentions. It's all about ratings for tv,radio, and internetzzz

I think Dak is past the point of "needing to work as a passer". It's year 3, he should have it together by now.

All great points. The tough guy realist will say “Just excuses”, but I’m just one of those Kool Aid-chuggin’ Dumbazzes that concurs.

Sorry, I thought you were saying they would likely be a playoff team this year. You are correct about last year.

I am gonna day we play better next week. Super dissatisfied with the weak stuff we put out there yesterday.
