Why Does Anyone Think We Will Take A WR?

The Cowboys under McClay and SJ are pretty easy to figure out come draft time. Certain tendencies like not selecting a DT in the first are near guaranteed, yet every year multiple draft experts waste our time by mocking a DT to us in the first.

One tendency the team has is it rarely prioritizes the same position group in back to back drafts. That’s because SJ and McClay have done a pretty good job getting their picks right. So when this year many have us mocked to take a WR with out first or second pick, it’s just another wasted mock.

Stephen Jones has already said that TE is a huge priority and that we need safety help as well. We also drafted 2 WR’s last year and one is currently a starter with the other drawing immense praise before surgery. Why would anyone think we would spend our first pick on another one?

It’s obvious the FO wants to replace the middle of the field production Beasley leaves behind with a TE. This team has never been reliant on slot WR’s. And while Cole was a security blanket for Dak, one could argue that Dak had no choice. An aging Dez and Witten were not clear and better options. With Amari now and Gallup, the importance of a slot WR faded away, we saw that this season.

There is no way in the world anyone can really think a slot WR is more of a need for this team than a S, TE, or DT. When you have your two starting outside WR’s and a young slot/outside guy that you believe in like C.Wilson, you don’t spend your first pick on another WR, and the FO knows that.

Now I’m not saying we wouldn’t pick one in the 4-7th, but I’m having a hard time believing we are going to use our first pick on our 6th biggest need (S,DT,TE, RB/OL, then WR), especially when stud TE and DT’s are going to be available come our first pick.

Stop wasting your time, the hole Cole Beasley will leave is not big enough to spend a 2nd on.

It's most likely going to depend on what is available when we are in the clock. While the team has more needs in some positions than others that doesn't mean an opportunity will present itself in the area of need.

If the reincarnation of Randy White or Warren Sapp is there when we are on the click do you think the team is going to blow that off? Probably not.

If a receiver is clearly the best player on the board (Hollywood Brown) when we go on the clock do you think we would pass on him? Probably not.

If Tyler Murray is there at our pick in the second round would we pass on him? I sure hope not.

I doubt it. 3rd - 5th is a possibility. Heard they might go after a TE. If not look for a DL/OL player. Doubt there would be a quality safety in the second round that could out play the current crop of NFL FA safeties in their first year.

Why would we. Cooper and Gallop. May still keep Beez, even though he has a big mouth. Cedric was having a good TC and will be back. We will bring in a FA. Now we may take one in later rounds. Lenoir may come around. But planning on Brown but he is there.

But they've been looking for a gimmick RB/WR slot type for years now. If they don't keep Austin, they'll get another. I'd like a stouter Austin. Give up some speed for some size and staying on the field.

Austin should be cheap so I actually expect the Cowboys to keep him. IF the Cowboys go WR in the second round (and I doubt they will) I hope they aren't looking strictly at slot wr but best wr, most dynamic wr available. We can always put Coop in the slot IMO.

My hope is they go either TE or DT in the 2nd round.

Yeah i don’t doubt a WR gets added through the draft, just not with our first or second pick IMO

I haven't hear

I haven't heard one person say we should take a WR with our first pick.

I really don't. If we do, its going to be a route running guy in the later rounds like Renfrow from Clemson.

Bravo for well-thought-out essay on our needs.
A top safety in the second round? Won't happen. In a contract year, Stephen and Jerry go for a TE and QB.

********. Every year is different. If they had the chance at Donald they would’ve grabbed him. DT’s are not common 1st rd picks for any team so wise up and get off this narrative. Jeez, our fans are so ignorant.

Are you even a Cowboys fan? Everyone knows this team doesn’t like picking DT’s in the first round the team has said it that themselves.

Obviously if a team knows someone’s a hall of famer they’ll draft him. Don’t call me ignorant I’ll run circles around any argument you have with facts and logic. You just say random stuff

Btw here’s the proof FROM THE TEAM;

Who is saying this, good oaf?
Why would you believe that.
Our 2nd pick will be defensive.
