Why does Buehler deserve a chance?

It's many reasons why. Nick Folk for one. Preseason competition Buehler beats Folk. Nobody else is really in free agency. Buehler came from a tradition of winning and doing field goals for USC, a winning team might I add.

Now, in preseason competition it went like this::

vs. Raiders
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20090...ab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-boxscore

Folk - 0/1 Field Goal | 1/1 Extra Point | 1 Point
Buehler - 1/1 Field Goal (39 Yards) | 3 Points

vs. Titans
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20090...ab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-boxscore

Folk - 0/1 Field Goal | 4/4 Extra Point| 4 Points
Buehler did not get to kick any field goals or extra point but he's currently 100% for his Field Goals.

vs. 49ers
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20090...ab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-boxscore

Folk - 2/2 Field Goal | 1/1 Extra Point| 7 Points
Buehler did not get to kick any field goals or extra point but he's currently 100% for his Field Goals.

vs. Vikings
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/20090...ab:analyze/analyze-channels:cat-post-boxscore

Folk - 5/5 Extra Point | 5 Points
Buehler did not get to kick any field goals or extra point but he's currently 100% for his Field Goals.

So that sums up the whole story with Buehler still being a 100% for kicking field goals in a Cowboy uniform. I believe in Buehler right now, more than I believe in Nick Folk.

Knowing the OP, I doubt sarcasm was in his post. (or his volcabulary)

:D ;)

His college stats aren't bad:

2006 - 1 of 1 on FGs 0 of 0 on extra points
2007 - 16 of 19 on FGs 52 of 54 on extra points
2008 - 9 of 13 on FGs 65 of 66 on extra points

And 3 of those misses in 2008 came in one game where he said he changed his routine or something. That's not a huge body of work to judge by, but we know he has a good leg and his college career isn't bad.

I think he deserves a shot cause he's on the roster, no other real reason. It's not like he can do much worse than Folk.

Remember Vandershank? He was the best ever, until he caught the "funk"!

I think that is what has happened to Folk. It's in his head...

Well I don't have a problem if they gave DB a shot at kicking FGs but you are dead on...it is absurd to base it all on getting 1 FG in preseason and to keep commenting on him being 100%

Again...that does not take away from the idea of giving him a try, just the way the OP broke down the stats to convince us of it.

Buehler can kick 50 Yard Field Goals. PROOF!

What happens if someone comes along and posts youtube videos of days gone by when Folk was actually clutch...would you be transformed to thinking Folk is the answer?

Kind of silly really if you would stop and think about it.

DB should be given a shot, but your proof of what he has done before is kind of silly. You would just be better off saying that Folk has sucked this year and what else do we got to lose and leave it at that.

well we need to do something with Folk. I'd hate to cut him since it's probably a mental issue and he may snap out of it. I wonder if we can stash him on IR with an ailment and bring in somebody from the street.

If Buehler kicks a second field goal, you could say he kicks 100% of his field goals time and time again. Where is Yogi Berra in this discussion?:)

David was a solid field goal kicker at USC. Yes, he did have ONE bad game against UCLA, where he completely changed his routine for some reason. It was a blowout win for USC, so the misses didn't matter to the team anyway. Other than that game, he was good, so I don't understand why he wouldn't at least be given a real chance to compete for the position now. He apparently hasn't been practicing FG's much this season, why? Before the draft, his goal and expectation was to be a full-time NFL kicker, not just a KO specialist.

Here is his first field goal at USC, a 49-50 yarder that came out of nowhere in an important point in the game with Cal, back when he was rostered as a safety and played special teams.
