why does everyone hate the Pats?

I hate the Patriots because they do things like poke people in the eyes. Come on, the patriots give plenty of reasons to hate them besides jealousy. Needlessly running up the score. Cheating. Acting like *******s. I think it is presumptuous to say everyone who hates them hates them because of jealousy.

Yet running up the score allows them to adopt a mentality that plays until the end of the game. And I would argue that's how the beat teams like the Colts, Giants, Raves and Eagles - by developing a pedal-to-the-metal attitude.

As for poking people in the eye, I guess we've forgotten about Roy "Horse Collar" Williams and Terrell "Have Spit Will Loogey" Owens who sprayed his DNA all over DeAngelo Hall.

If the Cowboys were the Patriots, I'm convinced posters here would be justifying and excusing the behavior just as Cowboys fans have done excusing T.O.'s behavior.

I hate the fact that the Patriots went 16-0, but that's because I wanted my team, the Cowboys, to be the first.

As for cheating, no one knows how much that impacted their wins. And since they aren't cheating now, they're still rolling over teams.

It's jealousy, plain and simple.

Everyone hates the Pats, because the team was a classless organization. The Packers of the 60's, the Steelers of the 70's, the 49ers of the 80's, and the Cowboys of the 90's all won without cheating, taking cheap shots, or running up the score on defeated opponents.

Really?

How do you know they weren't cheating?

Stealing signals has been a part of the NFL since teams lined up for scrimmages.

Jimmy Johnson even admitted he cheated.

And if you're saying the Steelers didn't take cheap shots, you didn't watch many Steelers games.

The difference was that the game was played rougher back then and such penalties weren't as easily called. I remember when Jack Ham (or Lambert) took Cliff Harris' helmet off after a play.

And the 90s Niners were accused of cut blocking, which Denver has perfected to an art form.

It's all relative. What the Patriots are doing now is similar to what other great teams did in the past. They were accused of doing some of the same things.

Vince Wilfork could take lessons from Randy White, LeRoy Jordan, Kevin Gogan and Erik Williams. They just politely helped the opponent up off the ground and asked them for their mailing address to send their Christmas Cards and homemade sugar cookies to.

People here called out Roy on that, but poking someone in the eye might be more dangerous than a horsecollar. Also, you must not live in Dallas, because whenever the cowboys did something bad in the 90's most of the city got on them. :p Also, that kind of stuff gives the boys a bad rep. There is no justification. As for cheating now, how do you know? It's kinda hard to trust 'em.

LOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's jelousy. Anyone can use any excuse you want but it is what is. It's the same way people felt about the Cowboys in the early 90's. I just think it's funny to see fellow Cowboys fans have this much hate for another team and their accomplishments.

jealousy? nah, it's a nice mix of cheating, cheap shots, stat padding and their overall smugness that i can't stand.
I really doubt you'd see the same hate had the Colts gone 16-0

The only reason for hating Pats is jealousy. But give credit where credit is due. The patriots are having an amazing year. We witnessed history. Tell your children about it someday.

The only teams I never want to see go undefeated are the Commanders, packers or steelers.

go cowboys! Commanders suck.

:lmao:
I don't hate them, but I'm sick of the hype. I find the way they are treated by the media a bit hypocritical. I can't imagine most QBs getting the nudge in the ribs for fathering children with models out of wedlock. I think most would get raked over the coals. Brady practically gets applauded. Especially when it was thought there were two of them.

Romo has faced more media scrutiny for dating and none of the girls he's dated have ended up with buns in the oven.

It's old having them be 15 to 20 minutes of the nightly focus on Sportscenter. Real old.

The media couldn't stand Randy Moss until this year. I live in West Virginia...Randy's old "stomping" grounds.

He was a punk then and still is.
Just like Cowboys fans have always loved TO. Oh wait.........

If we were undefeated there would be 10 times as much media coverage and you know it. Brady had a child out of wedlock, too bad he's not a ho chasin' crack head or a gun toting thug, now that we can get behind. Jealousy is all it is.

Everyone hates the Pats because:
-Belichik is an arrogant swine who tried to cheat
-Tom Brady is a crybaby
-Randy Moss has a terrible attitude (I play when I want to play)
-Rodney Harrison is a douchebag
-They get every single break imaginable from the refs
-Have no class
-Try to run up the score because they got caught cheating as if to say, "How dare you question my authority?!?!"

Does that sum it up?

Oh, and because Ernest Wilfork likes to poke people in the eye when the refs are turning a blind one.

Oh Mavs, will your Patriot wounds ever heal? :D It´s not true. You hate the Pats and all things from New England.

The Pats are a heck of a football team and even if we both aren´t their true fans, you have to admire what they accomplished. It´s sensationell. Sometimes we have to take off the fan-glasses.

Cheers

That just about sums it up, yeah. Go Jags, beat Pats.

Ty Cobb was a great baseball player who was a piece of %$$##.
The Pats are a top football team who have a bunch of %$$##'s and a cheater for a coach who likes to run up scores and rub it in.
If you are not smart enough to figure out why that engenders a lot of hate that is YOUR problem.

1. They cheat, and it starts at the top with Kraft, who allows them to cheat and pays their bills for them.

2. A pompous, arrogant coach, who couldn't win a damn thing, until he started cheating. He was a horrible coach in Cleveland, HORRIBLE. Yes he has more talent to work with, but he also cheats.

3. BB has no class. He doesn't shake hands. He dresses like a bum (total lack of professionalism). He is completely standoffish.

4. Tom Brady is a pretty boy, punk, who also cheats and gets away with it. Not only that, he openly cheats on his women and sires babies while he is off cheating. What a great role model. Definitely not someone I would want my kids looking up to.

5. Rodney Harrison is the dirtiest player in the NFL. He will cheap shot you all game long and get away with it. However, when a call actually goes against him......he looks like a NBA superstar who was just whistled for a foul. He throws a tantrum like a 3 year old who was told no candy for you kiddo. Then there was the who suspension for using illegal substances....just another reason why he is so dirty.

6. Randy Moss....nuff said

7. Mike Vrabel and Vince Wilfork....2 dirty bastiges....They will cheap shot you and cheap shot you....so don't be near them when the official turns his back.

8. Spygate

9. Their entire "so called" dynasty started with a bogus, obscure ruling.....and much needed help by the referees. The darn Tuck Rule.....which, I believe has yet to be called since that game.

10. Because the refs allow the Pats to play a lot more physical and get away with a lot more things than their opponents, game in and game out. They can molest your receivers, but don't you dare even look at Moss or Welker funny or it is a definite PI call. And don't even think of getting near Brady, cause roughing the passer is just a flag away.

11. They are from Boston, and I hate all teams from Boston...........Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins, BC, and the Patriots.

12. Not enough credit given to Adam Vinatieri, who is probably the best clutch kicker in NFL history. I found it sweet irony that Vinatieri and his new team, knocked out the Pats last year and then went on to win the SB.

13. The fact that the league warned teams to not cheat, sent them all memos, told them in owner and coaches meetings, etc.....and the Pats still had the audacity to cheat. It was like they slapped Goodell and the NFL brass in the face and said, we play by our own rules and do as we please......and then Goodell merely gives them a slap on the wrist. After all the hardcore fines and suspensions for off field stuff......the Patriots get caught doing something that actually ruins the integrity of the game, and Goodell basically looks the other way. Kraft definitely lined his pockets. It is so obvious to everyone that Goodell has been on the take all year longs. I actually want Tagliabue back. Goodell could have brought down the hammer and really shown the Patriots and other teams, as well as all the fans, that cheating will not be tolerated. He could have stripped them of all 1st day picks, also making it forbidden for them to trade into the top 2 rounds in 2008. He could have fined BB 500,000 and Kraft 500,000. Then he could have suspended BB for 1 game without pay. IMO, these actions would have sent shockwaves through the NFL. It would have taken those smug, pompous Pats off their high horse. It would have sent a nationwide message that cheating is wrong and will not and cannot be tolerated. The sanctity of the game will not be diminished by any team or person...........BUT GOODELL DROPPED THE DAMN BALL.....

14. Last, but not least, all you bandwagon fans. I swear none of you were anywhere to be found, then all of a sudden like mold on week old bread, you spread like wildfire. Red Sox fans, I have no issue with, those are some of the most loyal and pure fans out there.....but Pats fans are nothing but bandwagon wannabes.

This is why I hate the Pats......jealousy? NO...

Dallas is one of the best franchises of all-time. We have 5 SB rings in 8 tries. We are America's Team. We are the most popular team in the world. We are the wealthiest team in the NFL. We have the most popular cheerleaders in the world. We have the greatest NFL coach of all time looking down from Heaven in his Fedora and smiling (RIP Coach Landry).

SO you tell us we don't know they were cheating, and then say everybody in the league cheats? Wow...

And seriously... JJ admitted that he put an intern on the sidelines to tape signals during the game? Your analogy between the two are totally off. WHy not actually look at what Jimmy said, and compare it to what BB did, among them, the latter blatantly violating a law that imposed on the whole NFL....

Jimmy said he did it a couple of times....but didn't really get anything out of it or care for it, so he stopped, and went back to doing things his own way.

I think all the teams have tried things....however, the difference is, when the league said enough is enough, the Pats continued to do it. They continued to march by their own rules and do things their own way, without any care for the punishments that may come.

Also, I do not believe that Mangini and the Jets are totally innocent in this either. I feel they are guilty as well and should be punished as well. I feel they should have lost their 1st round pick and Mangini should have been fined 100,000.

Imagine how in line the entire league would be if the Pats lost both 1sts and their 2nd, as well as the Jets losing their 1st. I don't think we would ever have to deal with this problem again.....especially if, Goodell made it known that the next time a team was busted for such an action, their entire draft would be forfeited. Now that is how you keep teams in line. You bring down the hammer with extremely harsh punishments. If you steal, you lose your hand. If you lie or break your word, you lose your tongue. If you kill, you lose your head. See these are harsh punishments and would make people think twice about doing these foolish things.

One more thing. I have thought of another way to punish those who have to forfeit picks. All forfeited picks go into a lottery. All the remaining teams put their ping pong ball in the lottery wheel. the team whose ball pops up, get's that forfeited pick. If there are more than 1 forfeited picks....then you have more than 1 drawing. However, once you win an extra pick, you are omitted from winning another one in that draft. All drawings would start with the pick closest to the top. So let's say the Jets and Patriots lost those picks. The first drawing would be for the Jets pick, then the Niners pick (owned by the Pats), then the Pats pick, and finally the Pats 2nd round pick.

By doing this lottery system, not only does a team forfeit a pick....but they could accidentally give a division rival another top pick.....and that is another huge drawback to partaking in shady activities that are not condoned by the league.

I'm not the least bit jealous of the Patriots. I have no idea what the "ho chasin' crack head" or "gun toting thug" is about. Although it is probably fair to say I could give a flip what it's about in your mind since I can't remember ever "getting behind" either of those things. So your attempted finger pointing was nothing more than an ineffective scud.
