Why does Romo throw up those ducks every so often...

Has it ever been explained why Romo occasionally throws up a wounded duck in games? Rewatching that throw to TO across the middle and that ball was so poorly thrown, I couldn't believe it.

I've thrown footballs before and occasionally had some sail on me, but that thing looked like a knuckle ball gone awry. What's he doing wrong or what is wrong with him?

-squeazing the ball too tight?
-mechanical issue?
-injured thumb? Did he ever address this as an issue?
-are his hands too small (didn't a KC qb have an issue with small hands)

Anyone know if this has been an issue with him in the past or did it just spring up in these last few games. I don't remember it happening toward the beginning and middle of the season.

Looks like the ball just slipped out of his hands on that TO pass. He had to hurry it a bit and it just came out funny. I saw more weird passes after his thumb got injured though. Before that, you would once in a blue moon see them, but the frequency went way up once he got injured.

Yeah i agree i thought it was Quincy Carter throwing the ball there for a minute.

Mickey Spag on his show this morning said he checked with the trainer and Romo did indeed injury his thumb but shouldn't be used as an excuse. They didn't take him in for an xray or anything. Anyway, the thumb is fine now.

I just think these things happen to lots of QBs but we just so used to the high level we've seen Romo play at that when he is slightly off we notice it perhaps more then other QBs who throw more bad balls then Romo does.

It's caused by the Gunslinger mentality, much like Favre. You throw passes without the textbook form and sometimes you just lose your grip.

To emulate, take a bottle of beer, rub some vaseline on it and lean to your right. Now, holding the bottle in your left hand, reach your arm around the the back of your head, turn your head to the right and try to drink from the bottle without dropping it.

I just want to see if anyone would actually try do it.

if your referring to that duck throw in the fourth was it? i think someone mentioned that his thumb was still bothering him, that should of been a catch, was an easy throw

I also read somewhere that that pass was actualled TIPPED by Osi coming off the edge. Looking at the replay again, it did look like it did...barely.

I heard that during that series before he went in during that throw that he got a text message from Quincy Carter?
