I think they would obviously prefer to resign Demarco, but you would be crazy not to have option 2 or even 3 for at least negotiating position. You can't be caught over a barrel much like the Romo situation where Jerry had no choice since there was no replacement waiting in the wings----and actually at this moment, still don't have one.

Option 2 is AP, provided he is somehow cleared by the NFL and emperor Goodell. Option 3 would probably be in the draft, and if Jerry can swing a deal for Melvin Gordon, that would be sweetness. :D

if we can't resign murray because the price is too high, i don't see AP as a real option. if that was the case i would just draft a rb in the 2nd rnd or later and go with randle, dunbar, the rookie and we also have williams on the ps
i want murray back but i don't want a contract that we regret in a couple years

You left out that the Vikes must also let him go. I don't know that that is a given.

AP will be cleared and I think he will be a Cowboy if the Cowboys and Murray can't come to an agreement.

If AP is free and Murray leave I fully expect Peterson to wear the star

It remains to be seen what can be done to keep Murray around. If the price is overly forbidding, the upcoming draft is known to be rich with DEs and RBs. That's not such a terrible alternative if it has to be our best option. Peterson may present a financial problem at least equal to Murray's.

Why buy it at a premium if it's very likely to break?
