Why I am not too worried about the O line

A quick strike passing attack could really help this OL a lot by making defenses cover too much area away from the LOS. Once an OL starts getting some confidence there's no telling how tight they can become as a unit.

Did you say quick strike and Bledsoe in the same sentence ???? No I guess not, but you get mt drift ?

You have some valid points......and you did make me feel just a little better.

There are too many "ifs" with respect to our OL to make me not worry a bit.

All the "ifs" would have to work out for this plan to go smoothly. How fortunate would we be it that occurred?

IF Flo is 100% mentally and physically healthy.

IF Kosier is more than just a journeyman.

IF A Johnson has improved his bulk and technique enough

IF Rivera still has 1-2 more good years left and is fully recovered.

IF either Petitti/Fabini/Colombo can hold down the job.

I'm hoping for the best, and I have my fingers crossed . . . . Perhaps we are due for a dose of good luck.

Maybe its me, but Kosiers stats (I know thats not the whole story) don't look bad at all. I believe some for that is playing Tackle too. I would think Tackle is the harder position between Guard and Tackle. Limenen hold when they are getting beat. So, maybe he isn't what we all are perceiving. Plus, as a 7th rd pick, he started near every game his rookie year.

1. There has been NO indication that the Hotel will be anything but 100%. This is not the bad old days- a simple ACL tear is a routine surgery and rehab.

2. Kosier- the only real question mark; but he was sought after by several teams and HE was the first FA we signed- obviously the priority.
Pretty much agree with all of that. I will wait to see how Adams does in pre-season before climbing fully on the bandwagon but for now I'm riding along on the running board.

3. Center: Johnson is the starter unless Gurode has made major strides. Johnson has bulked up and should be better- he was adequate to solid last year; he should be solid to good this year. So either way center will be OK.
I am hoping for good things from Johnson and I hope that the extra bulk will help him if he can keep it on (he lost weight during the season last year) but he needs to fix his technique as well. He was tipping the snap count a lot last year and he just can't do that. I don't agree that he was adequate last year he was considerably substandard IMO. And poor Andre...if he only had a brain. This position is a major concern for me this year.
4. Rivera not only had the back problems; he had to have both elbows operated on after the season. Now this is more problematic- but all I have heard is that he is healthy and ready to go and he was a 3 time Pro Bowl guard- and he did not make it on rep as LA did.
First off, back problems do not just go away. Once a back is injured it is injured for the rest of that person's life. It will get better but it will never be fixed; a back problem will always be there and this bothers me. Also, the fact that he had the elbow surgeries after the season bothers me. Will he be healed up properly from that injury going into training camp? At least it was not knee or shoulder surgery but it still leaves me with plenty of concern for that position. Hopefully Gurode will be able to remember the snap count most of the time when he has to step in.

RT: Fabini is only 31- that is still prime time for a O lineman. He injured his pectoral muscle; not a knee, shoulder or ankle. He started for years as the RT of a team that was usually playoff or almost playoff caliber. Petitti is not a rookie, not out of shape, and not injured. So he will be better. Either way we will have solid RT play.

As far as I can see, the only real question is Kosier. If BP had ANY concerns about the Hotel or RIvera we would have gotten more O linemen in FA.
Right Tackle as odd as it may sound is one of my least concerns on this line as of right now. I think Pettiti has the work ethic and the intelligence to become a great RT and if he is not quite ready this year (as he certainly was not last year) then Fabini can bridge the gap. And if Adams goes down this year we will be in much better shape with Fabini here than we were with Tucker here.
