Let me say up front that I’m not a huge fan of Micah Parsons. He’s a great talent of course and his sack numbers since he’s been in the league are historic. I think he has disappeared sometimes when it mattered most but even then he’s still head and shoulders the best player on this defense.

But when it comes to this contract squabble, I lay the blame at the feet of Jerry and Stephen Jones. I don’t care what anyone says about Micah being under contract. NFL contracts are only as good as the guaranteed money in them. Not the years the player signed for. It’s why some NFL players get cut 3 years into a 5 year contract.

Here’s why this stupid carnival show mess is Jerry’s fault:
  1. Jerry and Stephen made it personal by publicly speaking about Micah “missing 6 games last year” because of injury (it was 4, lol) Then Stephen saying “Micah has to want to be paid” was incredibly insulting. Neither Micah nor his agent had said anything derogatory at the Jones until they kept firing shots.
  2. Serious negotiations should NEVER take place in public. You can get ugly in negotiations in private. Not in public. It is destructive.
  3. Jerry’s stupid public flex that he doesn’t speak to agents. Why is that something to say publicly? If Jerry’s such a tough guy why does he never win these contract squabbles? He caves every time. And will on this one too!
  4. Jerry trying to bypass Micah’s agent to negotiate is flat out unethical. Imagine a negotiation or mediation you were in with an ex-wife or someone in business and one side tries to bypass your legal representation? It’s wrong.
  5. When people say, “Micah is already under contract”, do they know how big an advantage owners have in NFL contracts? The owners OFTEN don’t honor the years of a players deal by cutting them after the money guarantee has been met.
The time to get this done OR trade Micah was in the spring before the draft. Now teams are already committed to their cap, the players they have in camp, so even if they wanted to trade him, the return would be less.

Prediction: Micah Parsons will receive a contract by Sept.1st for top market value somewhere around $42 million a season. Mark it down.

And Cowboys fans will once again…like we did last year with Cedee Lamb say, “Why was any of this necessary?”

thank you Robert :thumbup::thumbup:

It’s aggravating
It’s annoying

Why drag things out? Like every year?

I’m exhausted and it’s not even week one

If Micah’s numbers were 10 sacks, 8 sacks, 7 sacks and 8 sacks his first four years THEN you do this

Certain players you don’t play stupid games with

100% correct, Bob…

It’s never necessary for the Cowboys to do what they do. But they are at the top of the news cycle on all the shows. I’ve been too busy to watch them, but I bet it’s true with this news of the trade demand, Jerry was probably smiling ear to ear when he first heard of the demand.

Jerry always subscribes to the notion that ‘any news is good news’ surrounding his team… He does not really care. I am surprised that he still has some defenders out there…

Come on, this is stock and trade Jerry Jones, you know the answer to why this was necessary, you know why Jerry does this, you know MP will get paid, you also know there will be no trade.

Why would any pro sports team talk bad PUBLICLY about a player and expect them to just roll over and go “Ok I’ll sign for less.”

And JJ throwing Terance Steele under the bus on the side? Steele has his problems but that dude shredded his ACL in Dec 2022, then worked his butt off to come back EARLY to start the 2023 season. He did thatFor his team. And he gets publicly trashed by his owner. I know Steele hasn’t been as good but that dude did everything he could for his team.

How does that motivate a locker room? How do you think other guys feel hearing their best player in Parsons get trashed publicly? In private negotiations, fine. In public, it’s just destructive to team culture.

I used to like Jerry even as a GM, of course I was truthful about his performance but I liked the guy

But when he kept Garrett for as long as he did I soured on him because that was blatant stupidity

My coaches would always defend us in public but be critical and say there’s things he needs to work on but for the most part he’s progressing and I love the growth

Now in film study especially 1 on 1 film study he’d tell us the way we play I’d rather take your scholarship and use it as toilet paper since you seem to use my playbook as toilet paper

Me too.

I hope the whole team unites against the Jones's and their puppets.
I mean what exactly are they going to do in the end, though? They aren't going to strike and stop playing. Players will always side with players and the coaches will side with coaches and the front office with the front office. This has always been a thing and will never change.

You can unite all you want but in the end, each player looks after themselves and their family to get paid the most they can. Is Parsons going to do anything for these players who have their back if they are in the same situation and he has his fat contract? Nope, he will go on about his day, doing his podcasts.

Instead of against, insert WITH. That's the only means by which we are winning anything. We can't be infighting. This isn't squid games lol. We can't have this faction over here, another faction over there and so on. We gotta clean house FAST.

Jerry hasn't caught up with the rest of the league and the new player mentality and it's come back to bite him in the butt. Jerry is still living in the 90's
Jerry has never figured out how to navigate the cap in order to win a ring. Your correct. Crazy thing is, he ushered in the salary cap himself lol. By his own hand are we meeting our teams demise. Self inflicted wounds. That's irony.

I'm already saying it what does it prove to do all of this yet cave in

Waiting for him to get 15+

Im on the side that says let's do what's good for the team and putting a winner on the field. If it feels wrong, it probably won't work. Micah or not.
