Recent Jerry Jones quote from his radio appearance on The Fan:

"I think 9-7 is important to us. I mean that. I really mean it. The draft position between 9-7 and 8-8 is not going to make that kind of difference in my mind relative to everybody feeling good about what we do and the performance that we have up there. The premium will be on each individual and each coach doing the job that we would have liked to have had this team do all yearlong. We're going to go up and compete."

Amazing how the man can make some statement, then realize it really was not a good selling point, then start drifting into nonsense.

I put this into my Jerry Jones translator:

I think 9-7 is important to us. I mean that. I really mean it. When I say us, I mean, well, relatively speaking as I stand here right now, me. I mean that. I need to have that to sell Garrett to this stupid fan base. Maybe I can talk about that draft in Dallas. Woo wee, that will be a helluva time! Wait. One game is not going to matter. What now, dagnabbit. Nevermind, I need a drink. Better talk about battling and competition and give these guys a salesman wink. Back to the con tomorrow.

Ask all of the “real fans” here why 9-7 is important. I’m sure they can give a perfectly reasonable explanation that involves more than feelings and cliches. Probably similar to the ramblings of Jerry.

to sell Garrett to this stupid fan base.

I've constantly heard over the years what a "great" salesman jeri is but I just dont see it, at least as it pertains to convincing fans to support the Cowboys. I've never gained any comfort or confidence whatsoever from anything he's said except when he first bought the team and said "we must win. we will win. Win is the name of the game" but that was before I knew he was full of ****

I'd love to meet the person who was disgruntled with the Cowboys but after listening to jeri babble (aka "sell") they become excited about the cowboys again so they could explain what they see/hear that I don't.

For me, all jeri has ever done is milk the undying devotion of the cowboy fans for all its worth. Kudos to his wallet but that does nothing for me as a fan

I can’t imagine an owner saying he wants his team to lose a game.
I’m sure that would get blasted all over ESPN and then get spun into Jerry throwing games and conduct detrimental to the league.

But I have to say the man is a relentless machine. He never flinches.

Also known as a stubborn *** hole.

I think a part of him hates cowboys fans because he knows they hate him and he takes comfort in sticking it to all of us who despise him by doing things "his way"

I don't want to lose either. I hope our young guys play great and give us some hope in the off season. I don't think Jerry's mind will change on personnel changes if we win or lose, unless the young players quit on their coaches to send a message. That would be pretty cool too!
