Why is CB being discussed as a need in the first round?

First off, BPA. Always.

With that said, why am I seeing so many fans wanting to address the CB position with our first round picks.

Revel
Bland
Durant
Carson
Stewart

Our current CB depth chart. Now compare that group with the linebackers and edges we have on this roster.

If you select Delane, McCoy, or Terrell in the first round, it made resigning Bland and or drafting Revel a dumb decision

I know this isnt answering your question but you shouldn’t be as concerned w the fans. The real worry is the club has spent the majority of their resources working on CBs. So the chances of a CB being drafted are very high. Regardless of what we think.

To answer your question , it would appear that the team doesn’t think very highly of the CBs they have.

Bland is probably done. They are going to get out of that contract as soon as they can

Cowboys media and Cowboys zone are concerned about Bland and Revel after last season. Neither played well. Also Durant was let go and replaced by the Rams. He also signed a 1 year cheap contract. Personally I think if we can get another safety (Downs) or linebacker (Styles) the secondary would be fine.

Cause Bland is very overrated and overpaid. And always hurt. Carson is a bust. Revel? Who knows. The two new guys are the usual dumpster diving free agents we always sign. Not guaranteed either makes the 53

Yea but they just paid Bland, just drafted Revel, and signed Durant.

I would see your point if it was 2-3 years removed from that but its only one year.

I could more understand the thought process that we dont have a nickel corner currently. But im not drafting that in the first round

You don’t have to take my word for it. Their 30 visits speak loud on clear on where they think they stand at CB

The Rams were the only defense in the conference championship games that didn't have a true CB1. They just paid a kings ransom to the Chiefs to try to get one. I don't know if Delane is a true CB1 but if he was there I'd be surprised if they didn't pick him.

I think re-signing Bland was “a dumb decision”. Just like re-signing Odighizuwa was.

They rectified one mistake and I expect after this season they’ll rectify the other.

Revel was trying to come back from a major injury and failed to impress in 2025. We’ll see what he can do this year.

And those are your ‘top names’ on the team!

Durant is here for one year at this point - for good or bad.

The rest isn’t even worth mentioning.

Don’t forget this

Bland is hurt - he had more foot surgery , I believe

Revel is an unknown

There are plenty of legitimate questions surrounding the CBs we do have

Based on spotrac bland can be cut next year. I've already expressed how much of a weakminded corner he is so I'm definitely looking to upgrade him. Any corner who needs his coach to switch him off of a wr because he's getting cooked ain't worth a dime

Exactly right.

They can't help themselves. They don't know why. Just add more cornerbacks.

Need? No.

But like, you take the best player you can and CB is an impact position.

The problem is they didn't settle the roster before the draft.

This whole offseason has been an abortion. Completely fixated on defense and the secondary in particular.

And all signs point to a nearly all defense draft class. Which will appease the window lickers with 2026 on their brain but not anyone concerned with roster building.
