Why Is CBS Doing Today's Game And Not Fox?

CBS always got to flex a few NFC games per year and typically choose the Cowboys. They are the longest running NFL partner so have done well in these deals.
They also get the first SB of the new Deal.

The full weight of the new deal doesn't actually kick in until next season.

The league changed the rules a few years back, I think around 2014, to allow CBS and Fox to "flex" games for local market coverage. I think it has to do with both networks being able to carry at least 1 game each season locally. So for example, CBS Dallas gets to carry at least 1 Cowboys game while Fox Baltimore could carry at least one Ravens game. With Thursday Night, Sunday Night and Monday night games it is possible some local networks might not get a chance to carry the home team if the home team is in the conference covered by the other network. I am not sure I explained this very well but that is the way this works now.

Yeah this is pretty much why.

The NFC also does better ratings but Fox and CBS pay if I remember correctly the exact same amount for coverage so they have to send some fox games to CBS to make the ratings fair

I have a friend who'll be working today and won't be able to see the game live. So, I told her to set her DVR to Fox before she left her apartment. Imagine the egg on my face when I was reading today's paper and saw that the game was going to be on CBS. SMH.

I hate CBS by me. They are the only station that charges you to stream their content. Not doing it.

Oh...I can see the lie coming already.

No, what I said is you can watch the highlights after the game or set your DVR to fox. I wasn't saying Fox as in the TV station Fox, I was in fox as in... your foxy.

Romo replacing Phil Simms was the biggest upgrade in sports history. That's true even if you just consider Romo as average. Simms was that bad.

I literally started watching with the sound muted when Simms was doing the game.
ya, couldn't agree more, maybe even worse than Collinsworth or equal to.
