I've never understood the rationale for having the super bowl on a work/school night. It is such a PIA for people like me living in the eastern time zone. Why not have it on saturday night???

better Prime Time audience on Sunday... doesn't interfere with people headed out and about.

Super Bowl is 3:30 PST and it should not impact anyone working or going to school the next day

1st of all Sunday Night is a bigger TV audience than Sat nites which is one of the lowest as people are often out doing other things. As a matter of fact Sunday is the largest viewing night.

Plus the NFL is on Sundays and is a natural to follow that course for Super Sunday.

6:30 ET on Sunday is considered Prime Time

Knowing the Super Bowl starts later than normal has got to hurt in the Eastern Time Zone. Especially if you are the excitable type and can't just fall asleep after the game. It's sort of like Daylight Saving Time, people affected just won't feel right on Monday. I would prefer the Super Bowl starts a couple of hours earlier instead of all the build up. People that plan to watch the game will be ready when it starts regardless. Good luck and may experience lead the way, Pape!

“The Gods Of Nationwide Television Ratings do not recognize your puny complaints, mortal!” ;)

3:30 PM PST is a good time for everyone from Hawaii to East Coast. And seriously 6:30 PM EST is not a bad time to start. Game is over by 10:30? Still plenty of time to relax after the game and get to bed for the next day. Surprised anyone would complain about that.

I don't mind Super Bowls being played on Sunday evening. The majority of NFL games are played on Sunday already.

What frustrates me is the National Championship game is played on Monday nights when the games are predominately played on Saturdays. They need to get that game off of a week night so it can be more of an event like SB Sunday. I'd make sure to host or attend a NC game party every year. I haven't even watched the last few years.

Yeah, sunday afternoon.....late game at 4 EST..........not 6:30. The NFL is so popular that they will land big ratings on any night. Saturday night super bowl is a REASON to go out and attend a party or have a party. You think people are going to say "heck with the super bowl, i'm going to a movie!" That would never happen. The TV rating argument is kinda weak b/c a lot of the reason ratings are higher on sunday nights is the programming. What comes on saturday night? Nothing. Its been that way since at least the 70's. So, how can you compare ratings ? People tune in when their is something on they want to watch. The NFL would own saturday night every bit as much as it owns sunday night.

Agree on college. Monday night is just beyond stupid.

Who lets their kids stay up until 10-10:30 on a school night ? Parents who probably aren't interested in their kids performance in school, or who have lost control of their household
Didn’t say till 10:00 or 10:30. I said before 9.

The game gets over about 10 or 10:30. Don't see the problem. It's a lot better then the regular SNF games or even the World Series. I barely ever see the ending of them.

What's up with the Saturday night stuff now? It looks like lame marketing people stuff.

As always, I will pounce on any opportunity to voice my displeasure with late start times on the East coast (Pennsylvania resident).

I hate when we play Sunday night (which unfortunately is more times than most teams each season). Those games don't end till damn near midnight.

Forget about Monday night and Thursday night games. Not staying up for those unless the Cowboys are involved.

And if you're a fight fan don't even get me started. I was raised on boxing and love MMA. Want to watch a big fight on Saturday night? Prepare yourself to be up till 1-130am. Main card starts at 10pm and main event won't start till after midnight.

Stuff was fun back in my younger years but I just don't get down like that anymore, lol.
