Why is The Simpsons so unfunny now?

I think consensus was the first 10 or seasons were classics before gradually declining up to now. used to be my favorite show back then.I recorded every episode on a VHS tape but now i find all the current episodes painfully unfunny. what gives? new writers or producers? or just simply out of touch?

I can think of classic episodes and they still make me laugh just thinking about them its absolute timeless
The new episodes i psychically cant force myself to sit through. The jokes just isn't funny and the charm the show had is long dead.

The first episode came out on December 17, 1989 when I was 20 years old.
It's in it's 32nd season now. Maybe I just got burnt out.

It took about 5 season before it got old for me. I can't remember the last time I watched it. That said, eventually everyone runs out of ideas, so unless they bring in new writers every few years it's gonna lose something.

The same reason almost all tv shows suck after the first season and movies suck after the first one.

You can't adapt character roles. Themes and jokes get hammered over and over. There is no place to go except to go bigger, and what you liked at first is gone or overplayed. Laugh track makes everything worse.

If a T.V. show can go more than one season it is special. But if you really look after the first season, what I said before applies, and it is not as good, you are just bored and making excuses for it.

When technology advances and you can not tell the differnence between animated/cgi and real life, then long series will work. Something like star trek can go on forever, and not have the fault of set budget issues, characters getting old, you can fork plot line paths and not have to worry about scripts for star actors

Is it overall as good as it was 20 years ago, probably not. That being said i have seen a couple new episodes the last month or 2 that were pretty funny.

The only time I watch the Simpson anymore is when I'm flying and I will watch a new episode. I've noticed the plot lines are a lot similar to the ones years ago with only slight deviations. How many times have you seen where an episode when grandpa watches the kids with "hilarious" results?

Everything has a life. They knew when to bring Breaking Bad, MASH, GoT and The Shield to a close. They stayed a little long at the dance with Sons of Anarchy and Oz. You could see they were losing interest but still making money.

Kurt Sutter went a season too long on SoA but he wanted to do another project for FX and did and it failed.

I was never a Simpsons fan. Just didn't get it.
Same here but I hated Beavis and Butthead more because I had a young staff and they'd come repeating every dumb thing they'd said and try to imitate their voices and just cracking themselves up. When I handed out paychecks, they were the last to get paid.
