Why is The Simpsons so unfunny now?

I think consensus was the first 10 or seasons were classics before gradually declining up to now. used to be my favorite show back then.I recorded every episode on a VHS tape but now i find all the current episodes painfully unfunny. what gives? new writers or producers? or just simply out of touch?

I can think of classic episodes and they still make me laugh just thinking about them its absolute timeless
The new episodes i psychically cant force myself to sit through. The jokes just isn't funny and the charm the show had is long dead.

The first episode came out on December 17, 1989 when I was 20 years old.
It's in it's 32nd season now. Maybe I just got burnt out.

Pretty much in uncharted territory as far as the 30 minutes comedies. South Park isn't too far behind and they have lost alot of bite as well.

Well, a quick reference of sitcoms for 20/21show that the top comedies on air, right now, are the following:

The Good Place - Cxld
Sex Eductation
Atypical - Cxld
This Is Us - Final Season
Brooklyn Nine - Final Season
One Day At A Time - Cxld
Zoey's Extraordinary Play List - Cxld
After Life - Cxld
Master of None
The Baker and the Beauty - Cxld

So that's 10 and of those, 6 are cancelled, 2 are in their final season and 2 will get another season. I can't say that I've watched more then one or two episodes of any of these. That's where we are at I guess.

One of the biggest travesties in British comedy is they only made 12 episodes of Fawlty Towers.

Boy, you nailed it!

But on the other hand that's why I find British comedies so much better... Limited episodes create better episodes. When a TV show like the Simpsons or Friends or Big Bang have been on for several years and 100+ episodes (at least) of course they're going to get stale.

I thought This Is Us was a drama.

It took about 5 season before it got old for me. I can't remember the last time I watched it. That said, eventually everyone runs out of ideas, so unless they bring in new writers every few years it's gonna lose something.
We all know new writer today are creatively bankrupt. Most writers today sense of humor, jokes, and original ideas are long gone.

You cannot argue with that; especially on the main networks. There is nothing cutting edge.
