Why is there no criticism of Bill Callahan?

Our O line wasn't playing very well before all the injuries, but it seems Bill Callahan gets a pass on that. I'll admit I'm not a Callahan fan (never have been since I saw close up how he took a bad Frank Solich Nebraska team and made it even worse). It just seems to me we were better coached last year on the O line than this year, but no one points fingers at Bill C??

Have you ever tried to make pancakes with powdered milk or prepare a nice surf-n-turf with tofu? It doesn't work and at best you get something edible with no sustenance.

He is working with players that have minimal talent and numerous injuries. He can teach and prepare them all day, everyday but it will not translate to the field because most of those guys just don't have the necessary skill.

I would love to see him work with five lineman that will stay healthy for all 16 games, I think it would be night and day.

Not having a good, stable center started this fiasco and it rolled downhill from there IMO.

Unless a Callahan-Free OL would basically amount to stationary, armless tackling dummies, I'm not entirely sure the results have been great. Free is basically stationary, Costa is armless (it fit too well to leave out), and the whole collection of them don't have much more brain power than a tackling dummy.

The only really shining bright spot (if it can be called that) has been the few times that Costa has actually been on the field.

I agree, all we did in the offseason was sign two average players in Mack and Livings, and remember how many of these guys were hurt in Training camp, he needs a full year and another round of FA and draft

Agree, he should have some blame with what is going on. He knew what he was getting into and what the expectations are.

Man does he ever have some garbage players to work with though. Who would have thought Free would be such a bum after his 2010 season.

What is Callahan supposed to do with a pile of $%#$? Is he supposed to make them into studs? The poor guy got handed the worst group of Olineman in football. And even worse backups.

Before the season, many on the boards argued - not without reason - that Woicik and Callahan would make the difference for us in turning the clay on our lines into sculptures.

This hasn't happened. Strength and conditioning and offensive line position coaching are two groups in the organization that have clearly underperformed expectations this season.

Callahan has helped but it is damn hard, I don't care what team you are talking about when you are down to your 3rd center on the season and are constantly having to change the lineup because of injury it is going to have some negative impact. Injuries of course we hear are not excuse but give me a break injury have big impacts on every team out there.

Callahan can't make up for the crappy head-coaching of JG... If the same problems continue to exist, then it entails that unless JG gives up control of the offense, we are going to continue down the path to mediocrity. If your WRTs keep running 100 yards down the field every play by design, no OL magic is going to help.

I think he has done that in the fact he has gotten maximum return on the O-Line. Unfortunately the maximum return possible was very low to start with. They are terrible. Only two people on the Oline I have hope for is Smith and Kowlaski.

True but then we had 3 changes on the OL yesterday, new center, guard and tackle.

I am very disappointed in the play of Free and given how Parnell played yesterday I would not be shocked to see Dallas make a move at RT with Parnell.
