Why is Witten on the field?

I’ve been saying for weeks that Witten has been hampering this offense. I don’t care what anyone says; he is a glorified progress stopper for Jarwin, who was coming on last year.
Outside of 1 fluke game last season, Jarwin hasn't done squat. Dude can't block and has below average hands. Dude couldn't hold JWitt's jockstrap.

Defenses don't need to account for JW beyond 10 yards it totally frees up a safety. Use him on goaline and short yardage.
Period.
Like if you need a 2 point conversion or something

….hampering TE development again.....Jarwin catches that pass in the end-zone that Witt was tiptoeing to get. We in trouble.

I feel like the coaching staff likes Witten because he's a company man. But it sure feels like self inflicted sabotage to me.
He is on the field because he wasn't any better in the booth. Had to say it, though he has been my favorite player for a while now.

Witten is consistent and reliable. But he’s no more than a mid tier TE anymore.

Absolutely true. Problem is, the other guys on the roster are bottom tier TE's. The fact that Witten is being forced to play so much says a ton about the others.

….or talent development....or scouting....or politics......you telling me this team can't find one (1) heir apparent to Witt? Like Witt....but he has been declining for the last 5 years, right before our eyes while every team is getting a TE that can get down field. Witt is limited in many ways, most notably the routes that he can run. As for the blocking skills, where's he trucking guys to run on his side?

Witten is selfie for coming back...He was done 2 years ago...he keeps our younger te's on the bench,..

Because he can still get separation and actually catch a ball that hits his hands. Plus he can also block. Knows the blocking schemes. Knows what hot reads to make on passing situations. I'll stop there.

He's on the field because he knows how to get open. I thought he was going to be a red Zone threat this season. He's played pretty well. Do not bring Jason Witten into this

Wilson and Austin each had 5 catches today on 6 targets. Smith's last reception was against Miami.
I don't know what happened to Devin Smith. I expected to see him not Wilson

We won’t know until the TE gets significant snaps. Jarwin started 4 games last year total. To end the season, he had 2 seven reception games, including his 3 TD game against the Giants. The guy is great running the seam route.

Saying he only deserves less than 20% snaps makes no sense, especially considering how much Dallas passes now.
David Lafleur once caught 6 passes in a game.

A one or two game stretch does not indicate all that much.

Every time Jarwin catches the ball I find myself going..ohhhh this is kind of cool....a tight end that actually looks like he can move with the ball in his hands. Then I get sad because I realize he was only in for a situational play.
