It happens nearly every game and esp when we play against the skins....
we are in the QBs face every time he drops back but then he casually side-steps our player and flips an easy pass for a third down conversion. I know our D isn't giving up a lot of points and its really playing great so i'm not downing them, it just seems like generate a ton of pressure that is not equating to the bad throw/INT that usually, eventually follows. This game was a perfect example. We blitzed seemingly every passing down and although we were in Campbell's face he made most of the throws anyway. At one point he was like 10 of 10 passing on third down, many didn't go for first downs but still, our only INT was off a tipped pass. Seems like we make Campbell (as well as a bunch of other mediocre QBs) look like a decent QB every time we play him. Normally, when a team gets that much pressure, the QB throws one right to us (like Delhomme did to TNew earlier this season), that doesn't seem to happen as often as it should. All this to say, why isn't our pressure creating more TOs?
Couple of theories...
1) We just not making the plays on the ball and catching the INTs when we have the chance
2) Our scheme is based largely on winning one-on-one matchups which we don't always win
3) Our scheme is too simplistic or easy to read, we hardly ever fake the blitz and its always abundantly evident when we are blitzing
4) Campbell is a good QB (just kidding)
I'm leaning towards a combo of 1-3 but I'd love to hear what others think....
