Why it is a mistake to go back to Tony

If you take away the Seattle ps game which was only a few plays, it has been almost a whole year since tony threw a pass in a real game.
And he had the 3 ints, 2 were pick six's? and it wasnt due to injury his throwing arm side is ok, it was due to not playing
and then playing a good defense and being predictable, and not ready for the fast pace of a real game.

If put back in this year, I dont see how he can not be like that again.
Defenses are not going to let tony stand in a comfy pocket and beat them, they will go after him more than they do dak.
At least the smart defense will.

Think of this, the other players on other team, will have played 8 games and be in a groove, and tony hasnt played any games
and will take time to get in a groove if he can.

He may play poorly and win, and then get going in a groove, but worse case scenario is this.......
Tony plays, is off, loses 2-3 games and then gets hurt.
That hurts the teams seed status, and we are back with dak anyway.
So instead of playoffs @ 14-2 it would be 11-5 big difference.

The reason I keep saying next year is better for tony, is he could start from the beginning and
get in groove early on.

I am not saying Dak is the better qb or that Tony is, I am saying stay with the guy who has played
7 games in a row like everyone else,
not a guy who has not played for a year.

Now Tony may step in and play great, but I think the odds are low that happens, I dont see how anyone
can just come in middle of season, and play like they did in past years.

Look at scandrick, he admitted he wasnt right, he had lost the groove he was in and he knew it.
It wasnt just a hamstring.

And Tony may play great his first game back and everyone says see knew he could do it!
But then next game or 2 not so good.
It really depends on how the D plays him, and if they cant get to him or not.

I think Dez lost his groove too, and still trying to get back in one.
It just isnt easy to get it back!

Now Dak , he is in a groove, and playing good, so why mess with that ??
he has been playing for years, missing no time? not a fact , but that is why he is in the groove he
is in.

To me it is just crazy to go back to Romo in this current situation.
Getting to the playoffs is not a issue, that is going to happen, but it is the seed status, and winning
in the playoffs that will be affected by going back to tony.

If they go back to tony, and then go to SB, and win I will eat crow.
I will be shocked and eat a little crow, if they make it past div round with tony.

No new argument being made here.

If the coaches feel Romo can play at the level he has played most of his career, he's starting.
This is new !

And it is not the coaches but the jones boys who will decide.IMO

It is like anything, if you havent done it in awhile, your not going to be as good as someone who is also good, and they have
been doing it non stop.

And if that is the case, then I am 100% sure Romo will be starting.

Romo will 100% start when ready, just a question on when. My money is the Browns game. I am not saying if he should or not, but he definitely will.

I get the rust and all, that is my only excuse to stay with Dak until he hits that wall, if at all. Even if Dak continues to win, we will see Romo by week 10 IMO.

Well your right , but I struggle to see the logic in replacing a guy who has won 5 in a row, and maybe 6 and has only 1 loss by 1 point.
There is no upside to that.Tony cant win better than dak, a win is a win.
One guy has been winning, and one guy can maybe win too, but is really unknown at this point.

I think it is also not fair to dak , to wait for 1 bad game or loss, and then use that as an excuse to pull him.

I think and just imo, that if jerry wants to get past the div round and or SB appearance, he better stick with Dak.

I bet our future opponents are hoping they get romo not dak.

We have a great young OL and some good young players in other positions. We're a couple of impact defenders away from a team that can contend for the SB for the next few years.

I would hate to see this wasted on a vanity project to try and get Romo a ring or because nobody will pull the trigger to free up the cap space we will need in a year or two to keep our OL together.

These are really good arguments. Well said, zoners. I'm pro Tony 100% but again, valid points and observations.

Put wrinkled back in I say. We need to build up the defense if we want to compete for it all. The only way we can do this AND resign Zach Martin is if we release/trade wrinkled.

The longer he stays around talking about what ifs, the longer I could see us holding on to his massive franchise destroying contract. Let him play again, demonstrate how washed up and old he is... Then we can clean his contract off the books. End of story.

It's going to be really awkward around here for "Romo over team" activists once he returns and is injured again on the 3rd play of the team's second offensive drive.

He'll be running scout team against the 1st team defense who has been playing in 7 games straight...think playing against the ones will alleviate the rust? Also doubt the 1st team D sees McCown or any QB Cleveland throws out there look like Romo will in practice.

lol. We have kicked this around so much..I can´t think of anything to add!! Maybe, lets start some rumors or find a new angle...Prescott and Tony are secret lovers and Tony really doesn´t mind if Dak takes the job as long as he becomes a better kisser. Best I can come up with today!!!:)

There's nothing better than 5-1? Interesting. First I've heard of this "fact."

oh come on, you dont think romo would have been 6-0 do you ??
If Romo had done what dak has done, and were sitting at 5-1 in 1st place, you would think it was great.
But another qb does it and it is just barely ok and tony could do better.
