I'd say he's a below average kicker.

Way too conservative when trying to pin the opponents back from punting near midfield. All his kicks end up like at the 15 yards line.

Not too mention every long kick he does, the returners get 10-15 yards on their returns.

At best we turn the field 40 yards the other way.

That's not good.

A little over a month into the season we have questions about both our kickers...this should have been addressed in August. But we all know Dallas Cowboys are run like a franchise that is clueless.

All of the special teams units are below average and they do very little to contribute in a positive way. They have a below average punter, below average kicker, no return game on punt returns or kick off returns and they made very little effort to upgrade in the off season. Jerry is going cheap on special teams and it shows.

Stat wise he is pretty bad

Third worse average at 42.5 yards per punt. Only two that are worse are 42.3 and 41.5.

He is being paid the 12th highest salary amongst punters this season at over 2 million.

He’s not bad. But he’s definitely not worth over 2 mil per for the next three seasons (this one included)

Punter, Kicker, D-linemen (1T, DT), O-linemen, Safety, and a playmaker CB are what we need most out of this next draft.

What? Our punter is fine and has been steady since 2011. Our kicker, Brett Maher, is the one you should be complaining about.

There’s more to punting than distance. Return yards and downs inside the 20 are pretty damn important.

He definitely had a couple of stinkers against Green Bay, but he’s a solid punter.

There aren’t many big punt returns against Dallas. A large part is the guy kicking.
