We got the win, which is fantastic, but we also have plenty of things that we can improve on.
It's a great problem to have as a coach because you can very easily keep the guys focused and working hard. I don't know if Callahan is a screamer, but he will have plenty to keep the OL focused.
Some things to think about:
1. Josh Brent was very effective clogging the middle. I think we might see a situation where he is in on first downs more often, freeing up Ratliff for pass rushing downs where his ability to penetrate will be more effective.
2. Chris Jones just might be a "game" punter. While his practice reports are iffy, the guy has looked money in games. Huge punts last night and both pinned the receiver to the sideline.
3. Bruce Carter looked better last night than he has at any point leading up to this game....he actually got through the wash several times to make plays which has not been a strength to this point.
4. The CB's were much closer to the receivers in coverage than I remember them at any time in recent years. Generally it was a tight window for Manning, and we did a pretty good job of not giving up any RAC. Mario Butler had tight coverage several times when the Giants tried spreading us out.
5. The safeties played the ball in the air better than any we have had since Woodson.
Analysts all changing their tunes this morning saying this game was much bigger for Dallas. That is BS.....Dallas came into this game as an underdog and no one in the media gave us a chance. Giants weren't very respectful coming in to the game. Super Bowls champs had never lost this opening season special game.
