I wouldn't bet 50 cents on if the NFLPA does work on something this offseason, which is rumored, to change the policy, I wonder if it will be retroactive. I do recall Jerry implying after the last suspension that this is not over yet from a legal standpoint.
I really hope so. It long overdue. At most, it should be kept in house and let the clubs deal with it in their own way. Keep Goodell and friends completelynout of it.

Collins is already better then Crawford, and will be twice as good once he hits his ceiling.

He has made Crawford irrelevant, and I hope the FO and coaching staff see thats. Hate to see Collins pounded into a square hole just to get another jersey on the field

Collins and Crawford will both get plenty of playing time inside. Thornton will be the 1-tech on run downs and Crawford, Collins and possibly Irving will divide up the rest of the interior work.

That's assuming we invest in a "war daddy" at end, which will kick Lawrence over to left end.

RDE "War Daddy," Mayowa (maybe some Lawrence)

3-tech Collins, T. Crawford (some Irving)

1-tech Thornton (Collins, T. Crawford, some Irving on passing downs)

LDE Lawrence, Irving and possibly Tapper

If we bring in a second end, then Irving probably kicks inside permanently. It's possible, though, if we add a 10th lineman, it will be a low-rent 1-tech to share run-down duties with Thornton.

I believe Collins will have a big year. It is not just the he flashed last year but he did so after being injured for most of training camp and missing most (maybe all) of preseason. He certainly displayed the first step quickness Marinelli seeks and also worked well on stunts freeing up other rushers. Now he will have an offseason to get stronger and hopefully a full healthy TC and preseason to get him ready for opening day. I think he has a very good shot at becoming the lynchpin 3-tech this defense needs.

It would be nice if he had a beefy 1-tech to play with. We definitely need at least one other guy that commands extra attention and Collins will have a huge year.

Lets hope. But plan for the opposite.

I totally agree -- always be prepared for the worst, then plan and hope for the best results possible. Nothing is guaranteed. Odds are maximized through great preparation and aggressive action. Given the financial resources, Will McClay offers the ability and inclination to provide success. I'd like nothing better than to see us acquire a suitable veteran pass rusher and a promising rookie DE in the offseason and draft.

This was my first thoughts as well. After missing all that time, for a rookie. Then to be playing as well as he was. Now with a full, healthy off season to go through, and his 2nd year. Get some better players to surround him. I think we have our sack guy from the DT position for a long time.
Now if we can find one for the DE position.

Risen likes to troll. For one reason or another its allowed here. His comment has no merit whatsoever. It isnt backed up with anything ,zero effort is made to explain himself. Classic trolling.

Not really.
Most people here know Risen's "personality." He is the king of hyperbole and sarcasm.
But folks are so thin-skinned, they react to it like he's being serious. He's not.

To be quite honest, I never understood why people get so upset with "trolls". It's like people don't have self-control or can't ignore others so they need someone to help them do so.

Trolls can only impact those who let them. If someone says, "Ezekiel Elliott is the worst back in the league," why would you let that bother you? Why would you NOT recognize the comment for what it is - STUPID? Why do you need someone to "rescue" you from a trollish comment?

Just ... ignore ... him/it/the comment. Shrug.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled discussion. :)

Not really? Lol thats exactly what hes doing. Ill also enlighten you that he is not always sarcastic, but loves to use that sarcasm to deflect when hes dead wrong about something. I suppose that bothers me because opinionated people who dont own up to thier mistakes irk me. I dont think anyone is waiting to be rescued on a fan board but ok if you say so. That is all.

Maybe my "rescue" comment was a little strong. I wasn't necessarily aiming that towards you. But some people advocate others be "banned" for what they consider to be trolls. I speak specifically of those people.

Second, just out of curiosity, how do you know when Risen Star is not being sarcastic? I can't tell. I'm wondering if you can share some of your insight in how you differentiate.

Lol, all good. I think Risen is actually a smart poster and brings something to the board, so Id hate to see him banned. That specific comment though was just kind of crap he threw in to stir the pot.

As far as finding his sarcasm goes, his early post about Dak were serious. The more successful Dak became the more sarcastic he got. He stuck to his original theory though no doubt, but then went ahead and embellished from there. Which works perfectly to have his sarcasm line up with the fact he was dead wrong. You see, it all becomes a joke.
