Why Marinelli & Frasier? Why not someone from Pitt?

I really liked the energy Marinelli brought to the team this year and I have been bummed since the news leaked out he may not be here in 2014. However looking at the defensive stats for the past 6-7 years neither the Bears nor the Vikings have consistently placed in the top 10. But one team stands out as always doing well and that is Pittsburgh!

Who are the good young coordinators in Pitt? I know stats aren't everything but they obviously run a pretty effective defensive scheme.

in pitt it is 2 things:

1. their GM knows what he is looking for, works for a living and is accountable
2. Dick Lebeau

i would opine that without lebeau Pitt would not have their 2 most recent SBs

They were 13th which is a heck of a lot better than the Vikings 31st place showing. Only one team was worse Dallas :-(

Looking it up they have a gentleman's agreement with Butler to take over after Lebeau. He has turned down 2 DC opps.
