Does Jerry really have to be so urgent in finding his new Head coach and Def. Coord. Jerry and whoever the next head coach may be might have to hire a few college coaches as assistnats anyways. What would it hurt if he interviewed a few college coaches before he made his decision?

From what these pundits are saying, he would not interview any college coach until after Wednesday because it is national signing day.

Weeks ago, it was rumored that Les Miles of LSU was the odd-on-favorite among the college coaches because he is close w/ Jones and has coached in Dallas before.

Jerry himself has said he's not interested in providing on-the-job-training for Head Coaches in the NFL, but wants a guy that has been and NFL HC.

Another reason given was that Jerry wants to get some staff in here that will be here for a while. Hence, if Turner takes it for 3 years say, then the plan is for Garrett to step into that job for years to come. He'd probably get the same "promise" from Wade Phillips before naming him HC.

I personally think that any of the people that have been interviewed so far would be just as effective a HC as BP was. HCing is a MANAGERIAL position and that's what Jerry needs to get in here. Someone that can get the job done, not do the job. That's why good assistants are important, to take the particulars off the back of the HC so he doesn't crumble under the load...

1) nobody worth a damn that wants to leave where they are now

2) pretty much proven beyond a shadow of a doubt right now that most college coaches fail miserably in the NFL...with a team thats talented a has a legit chance to compete for a championship, why take the risk?
