If a decision has not been made, if Jerry didn't close the deal today, isn't that a sign that he may not be hired? Surely if he had been offered and accepted, it would have leaked to someone.

Its only midnight bro.. still early.

They are taking precautionary steps for the impending wave of Rueage that might come their way from some fans? :p: ;)

Just kidding. They just starting talking today. Even if they have basically agreed that they would hire him and he agreed he would work for them. It still takes time for the agent to get together with Stephen and to hash out the details of the contract.

I also wonder if there is a type of thing being talked about in the contract that has a clause to make it a year to year (in essence) type of deal or a type of Opt out situation if say a Capers wanted to come there next year and any other oddball things.

Even if it is a straight up normal contract...still has to hash out the details of the amount and language and then turn it into the league and so on.

Do we even know if they are still meeting tonight or not?

Last I heard was a few hours ago...one was they were working out the details for a contract, the other Jason was taking him on a tour of the stadium.

Now...my super secret double probation "insider" sources have told me they are having a candlelit dinner at the 50 yard line of the field and discussing the endless possibilities and even maybe hinting at a may/december type relationship. :laugh2:

Has he been officially let out of his contract with Cleveland?

Yea i hear ya. Just asked this question in another thread. Seems like it hasn't been reported and no one is really sure at this point. All i've heard so far though is that he's "likely" to be let go, and he's in limbo right now, but nothing about him officially being let go.

Little strange that while we've heard all these reports about him working on contract details, none of these same outlets have said anything about him being let go.

I don't think he'd be working on contract details with a new team if he was still under contract to Cleveland..

Actually, i just read an article on the NFL's website, stating he is technically still under contract with the Browns.. so im not really sure what the deal is right now.

.....................

If Ryan joins the Cowboys, it would leave Arizona, Carolina, Denver and Cleveland (where Ryan is technically still employed) as the remaining teams still seeking a defensive coordinator. Dick Jauron is expected to be the Browns' next coordinator, while the Cardinals and Panthers continue to interview candidates.

I think it's pretty much implied in Cleveland that he'll be let go so the new coach can help to pick his own staff there.

They are having trouble wording the contract. Jerry says it's spelled "donuts' and Ryan says it's "doughnuts".

Kind of hard to get the contract done while hauling crab pots in the Bering Sea.

I hope one of the sticking points is not us wanting to keep some of our fine assistants.

Rob has lousy handwriting and they are having trouble looking up phone numbers off of his roloindex...:)

Mangini was fired last week by the Browns after two underwhelming seasons. Ryan has one year remaining on his contract in Cleveland but is not expected to be asked to return under new head coach Pat Shurmur.

Permission to talk with him was secured prior to discussions between Rob Ryan and Jason Garrett.

"Things went well," according to the source.

There is mutual interest and the sides are working towards a deal but nothing will get finalized by Friday night. There is an expectation on both sides, however, that a deal will come together quickly.

Ryan has one year remaining on his contract with the Browns, but he has not been seen at the team's complex since the end of the season. He was conspicious by his absence when new head coach Pat Shurmur was introduced today.

He was there literally all day yesterday, and they didnt start working out the contract until late.

I'm sure it will be wrapped up by Monday.
