I'm dumbfounded that we did not pick up a WR or two in this draft. Does Jerry have a trade up his sleeve or something?

who would you have taken and when?

when it was our turn there was not really a WR in sight that made sense.

Terribly weak WR class this year. May as well try to get a WR around June 1st.

Isn't it fairly well accepted that June 1st is basically meaningless these days?

It was a pretty lousy WR draft, they were really hoping for Sweed to fall to them in the 2nd, but that didn't pan out (damn steelers). They'll bring in some UFA's to compete with Hurd Austin

I think JJ is going to go after a veteran WR.

Wonder if they knew that all along?

Depends on who's made available or not.

We could have picked up Doucet for good value, IMO. I guess we'll see who gets cut this year and cross my fingers, because I really don't believe that Glenn will play this season.

The only receiver worth taking was Manningham. But his "off-field" issues made him a question.

It could be that there is no real need. If Glenn is healthy again, if Hurd and Austin have shown enough to be counted on, and if Stanback is the secret weapon, it would be counterproductive to use a pick on a receiver with no chance to help.

A lot of IF's... we need to trade for a young, speedy, veteran WR like Boldin or R Williams to go along side TO

Jerry did say they tried to move up from 61 to get a WR but couldn't make a deal. Said they would look for a vet this summer.

I think there just wasn't really one out there that they wanted.

We have TO, Witten, and Crayton. They have all had good games and are good receivers. And we have Marion Barber who can catch the ball and run it. We don't need too many other ifs to help that.

Yes, but they aren't draftable this year.

:D
