By all accounts he is a ferosious(sp?) hitter and better in coverage than Roy Willy. The way Roy is tackling lately, it is hard to imagine anyone worse. Every, and I mean EVERY, tackle Roy was in on last night looked like he just wanted to make the big hit. He didn't wrap up once. I have been a big proponent of Roy for the last few years but even I had enuff last night. My god! I am so disgusted by his lack of tackling that I would rather see Davis or anyone in there than him. Enuff ranting for now, what do you guys and gals think? Elam or someone else?:banghead:

Not making plays will make people want to bench you. Honestly, when was the last time you saw Roy make a play that made you go, "woah, only a handful of safeties can make that play." It's been a long time. Somewhere during the 3-4 transition Roy lost his swag. Let's hope he gets it back.

yes, he is such a stud that dozens of teams have lined up to claim him after we got rid of him

gee I dont know, but my eyes and the boxscore say he led the team in tackles last night

this "Roy is a scrub" junk is pretty lame...probably only about 25 or 30 teams in the league that would scoop the guy up in a heartbeat if he were available

honestly I never say that about any play I see a safety make

honestly people...it like you expect the guy to cover every receiver, tackle every runner or sack the QB on every drop back

That doesn't mean that any scrub or has-been safety around the league is going to be an upgrade...which is essentially what all of these types of threads suggest. It's just not the case.

What about some of the plays Roy was making during his first two years? Check out some videos and prepare to be amazed at how much Roy has fallen off.

Thank you. Well said and correct. Sometimes I wish these people would get what they are asking for so they could see this defense without him.

oh there is no doubt the impact plays have fallen off, and when he came into the league he was a dynamic blitzer, but doesnt seem to get there when he blitzes now....

some of the drop off is clearly extremely poor scheme for several seasons, though I guess Parcells and Zimmer would say it was because of necesssity due to our poor secondary situation...the guy's a true in the box SS, if they arnt up there, they arnt going to make the plays they are best at, and we havent used him that way since his 2nd yr in the league

he isnt old and appears to be in excellent shape, so the only thing I can think is maybe he has worn his body down because of the incredible collisions and reckless style he played with for so long...he's been playing one way for yrs, and his way isnt really conventional...the guy was incredibly destructive when we drafted him

I always thought Elam would be a big time playmaker for Dallas. he could lay the wood AND cover.

Perhaps RW is playing hurt?
He does seem a bit tentative out there..no energy.

OR maybe his vision is that bad and he doesn't let on?

Yeah...and you probably thought that Romo wouldn't amount to anything because he wasn't drafted...

What does that have to do with anything?

Romo was never released. Elam was. See a difference?

Is this going to be your new agenda? Officially?
