Simple: they placed greater value on Jones. You don't have to agree. Regardless, you certainly shouldn't be surprised.

It's been pretty obvious the past 2 seasons that Rod does not put a lot of value on the 1T. He prefers the try-hard overachieving types at the position. What happened last night should not have surprised anyone.

Corner is a greater need/value in the first, than a 1tech.

Granted, I don't know how Jones or Brown will pan out, but I don't mind passing over Brown for a corner/safety like Jones

Cowboys took what that felt they needed more but this is a classic case of workout numbers helping/hurting players. Brown is a flat out steal for the Patriots.
