Why not Forte?

I've read a lot of mocks that have us taking McFadden, Jones, Johnson, and Ray Rice. I haven't seen any that have us taking Forte. I was impressed with him at the SR Bowl. I thought (other than his fumble) that he had a strong game.

He rushed for over 2000 yards this year at 6 YPC. He rushed for over 5 yards a carry as a Jr before he had a knee injury.

NFLDC had listed him as a 4.6 forty guy and listed his lack of speed as a weakness. But he ran a 4.46 at the combine at 6-0 220 someodd pounds. Production, speed, ideal size...

Why aren't we mentioning him as a 2nd or 3rd round pick?

I watched a few clips of him on youtube....he breaks a number of long runs. Now, he doesn't have a lot of wiggle...but neither does Larry Johnson (a guy he sort of reminds me of)....

Any thoughts on this guy?

Cause the 1st 3 guys are home run hittrs and that's what most people want to compliment Barbers power!
That's why people want Johnson/Jones/Charles/Etc. because of the home run hitting ability.
Ray Rice is ranked higher than Forte also!
My guess is if we dont' go R.B. with one of out top 3 picks (which is possible because Barber is our starter) my guess is Forte will be on our radar and possibly trade up in round 3 for him if we havent' picked a R.B. by then.
Forte hasnt' been mentioned I think because the other backs are rated higher and most think we'll use our 1st ournder or 2nd rounder on a R.B. when discussing them, and one of the higher rated R.B.'s should still be there in round 2 that there was no point in discussing Forte since I think most feel one of the higher rated RB.'s will be there at the end of round 2 and that Forte is an early 3rd round pick!

Forte isn't a homerun hitter?

He sure broke a lot of long runs.

4.46 speed lends itself to being able to have long runs.
