Why not give TE Fleener a try

I can see why they wouldnt want to give up draft picks for a TE but why not go out and get Fleenera look? He adds a vet presence he is an upgrade over Swaim and Schultz and probably Rico. Swaim has come along pretty good but Fleener is in shape and has pretty good hands and can block. So with a 2 TE set he can help in the run and in the pass. Everybody knows that Schultz gets thrown around like a rag doll this kid has no upper strength and the defense's know it. It's embarrass to watch him try to block. He has pretty descent hands but he is NOT a blocker. He needs to sit the rest of the season stay in the weight room and study film. Swaim Fleener and Rico can man the duties they have the extra space. Jarwin has just been a disappointment.

I think bringing in any receiver midseason is an issue.

I have a prediction...

Cooper, Thomas and Tate will all be disappointments for the rest of the season and the same thing can be said for Fleener if we bring him in.

Why?

Because it takes a QB and a WR countless practice reps to build chemistry. A QB needs to know where a receiver will be..there has to be a trust. As good as Romo/Dez was...it took 2.5 seasons for them to build that chemistry. Not having chemistry with your receiver can lead to turnovers. You aren’t going to build that chemistry after a couple weeks of practice. I can’t think of another example where a receiver arrived on a new team midseason and had an instant impact.

There’s a reason why Beasley is the only one on the same page as Dak on a regular basis and no it’s not just because “Dak sucks”.

No to Fleener, he's inconsistent and has too much of an injury history. If he couldn't be productive with Brees as his QB, he ain't gonna be productive anywhere else either.

so he would be better than Swaim and Schultz and "probably" Rico? Implying Rico is our best TE? This just in, Rico isn't a good player right now -

Fleener 5 years ago (or so) would have been better than Swaim, not today...I saw the article too regarding Fleener and dismissed it as folly....

Probably for the same reasons no one else is giving Fleener a try. He's a recognizable name who has averaged less than 50 catches per season, and wasn't even a threat with Drew Brees. They replaced him with 67 year old Ben Watson.

I meant jarwin sorry but he is an upgrade when it comes to blocking and the def cant tee off on what dallas will do

Swaim has been playing better and better each week until he got hurt....just bc you know the name of a guy out there doesn't mean he's better.
I didnt know how to edit that thread but I meant he is better then Jarwin not Swaim. What I was trying to point out is that he can help out the OL and with the run. He did help out Brees and The saints with that. He can catch but he adds more to this team the catching and that is what we need. Have you seen the blocking of our other TE not named Swaim?
Fleener is not going to be better then swaim but he will give you blocking help in the run and passing game and he wont cost you a pick and he wont cost you a lot of money.

NOT all the other team have TE that have No experience at TE either like we do. We dont need him to catch 50 passes we need him to help block and catch a few passes. We have Swaim and Rico

Fleener is 30 yrs old, has struggled with drops off and on throughout his career, is a a below average blocker and has 5-6 concussions. I fail to see the upside.

Well most around here that don't like Dak says he can only throw to a receiver when they are wide open........ Don't need chemistry if Dak can only throw to a guy wide open.

Fleener has been nothing but a major disappointment TBH.

Cameron Brate.
I would have loved brate but they didnt try for him and the trade deadline has passed. I suggested Fleener because he wouldnt cost us a pick and hardly any money and he is an better blocker then any TE we have on our roster not named SWAIM. That would be the point lol

wasn't he lucks TE in college *and* drafted by the colts? if they couldn't work it out with that type of a background and familiarity, i don't think he's coming back to the NFL.

LOL you guys are missing the point he is better then any TE NOT named SWAIM. He doesnt cost us a draft pick we have an open space on the roster so we dont have to cut any one and he wont cost us a bunch of money. he is no world beater but why NOT take a look MY GOsh
