Why not WR Elijah Moore?

I'm with you on this, Hawkeye0202. How he would respond to not receiving an extension would be a concern. But, from a financial standpoint this is the best case scenario.

What would be the draft capital used to land him? Will the Steelers up the asking price now that the draft is done? Or, will the Steelers take him off of the market if they land Rodgers?
You work with him on a long-term extension, but with only a max of $24-25M per year. If he refuses, remind him we can lock him up over the next 3 years for around $50M ( final year of his rookie deal $4M, tag #1 ( $21.8M ) tag #2 ( approx $23M ).

I like john Metchie more than Elijah Moore. Houston signed Kirk, Berrios and drafted 2 more receivers to replace Tank dell and Diggs. Metchie is currently listed as the top WR3 on their depth charts but seems expendable with a lot of depth. I guess the cowboys can't chase FA's with their usual cap mismangement but what is the cost to bring Amare Cooper back?

Because the media feels we needed to draft or trade for a Wr, does not make it true. They’re always telling fans what teams need but in reality they don’t know jack.
We have enough WRs on the roster one of them will show up as the 2, 3, 4, 5 receivers.
The coaches have to give them a legitimate opportunity to show who will be who
The quantity over quality approach tends to fail more than it succeeds though is the issue. You have a nice rotational piece in Turpin, but hes too small and limited to be an actual starter. Campbell is another solid depth guy, but going into year 7 its unlikely that he makes a significant step forward. Mingo certainly has the physical traits, but hasnt done anything at the NFL level to suggest hes a starting caliber player...or even should be on a roster to be honest. Really it just means you're all in on Tolbert as he is the one guy who actually checks most of the boxes.....he still has a another leap he needs to make in order be a viable #2 though as he is very limited on his route tree.

Agreed.

The thinking feels like just because Dallas will list someone as their #2 receiver that they can actually fill the role.

Moore would be okay if he comes cheap on a prove it contract. Would rather trade for Quinten Johnson or Alex Pierce since all are on the last year of their rookie deal or next to last year of rookie deal and either would probably bring a trade of a 5th or 6th round or maybe a player for a player deal. Courtland Sutton would also be ideal as on last year of his contract but cost is $13 million for this year.

Not a fan of Pickens as seems like a cancer in the locker room. Wouldn't mind signing Amari Cooper as a FA but that ship probably sailed or Keenan Allen for a year.

Best bets would be Moore or Johnson or Pierce.

  1. The Cowboys did not fill their need at #2 receiver during the draft.
  2. Moore brings the deep speed element Stephen Jones said the Cowboys were looking for.
  3. Moore is still available and would come cheap at this point.
  4. Moore is still just 25 years old. With both youth and upside
  5. Has Moore ever played with a quality quarterback?
I would roll the dice.

He was the one that stuck out to me as well. Give him a shot. I think there's a strong chance he's better than anything we have past CD.

I’m 90% certain that I’d let Tolbert walk after this year. Thus far he’s proven to be inconsistent. Flashes and some good games followed by a several- week disappearing act.

I don’t think signing Moore would prevent that next year.
True on Moore.

There’s always the shot of Tolbert pulling an Osa and playing well in his final year and getting the bag. Not sure how I feel on that one either.

I see low risk - (possibly)high reward.

At one point, this player was regarded highly enough to be drafted 34th overall in the 2021 draft.

He’s since been sentenced to the Jets and then the Browns. Neither is what I would call a good environment. Nor would I say either had very good quarterback play.

Kick the tires.

I’m not against Elijah Moore but he’s just more of the same.

Turpin - people say he’s too short at 5’9”. Moore, same height and small frame. Fast but not Turpin fast. Moore has returned 1 kick and 2 punts in the NFL. Turpin has roster value.

But Tolbert sucks, can’t be a WR2. We need Moore.

Moore - 61 rec, 538 yds, 8.8 ypc 1 TD
Tolbert - 49 rec, 610 yds, 12.4 ypc, 7 TD

True. As did the Jets his first team. But he's 24 had all kind of quickness coming out of college, on 2 teams already. Why is he sitting there? That tells me he's not thought of very highly by the league.
I thought he'd be better than he has. Sure, he hasn't been with the best organizations but it does make you wonder. I'm not against it for the right price but I'm also not counting on it as a magical solution.

He's asking a lot more than he is worth.
Would be better than what we have but would still leave us with a bottom 12 WR2 IMHO.

Dallas should be looking hard for a WR2 but I wouldn't overspend on a 1 year stop gap.

Another post mentioned him.....my response is the same, good question.

It appears this kid checks all the boxes. The question is how much the Browns are asking?????
He is a free agent. He would be an excellent fit and would not be too expensive. His numbers are great but this QBs have been terrible.
