After reading mock draft after mock, I like this one i found somewhere. I think we will find linemen via- free agency. To risky picking them in the first or second round.18. Dallas Cowboys-Everyone believes the Cowboys are taking an offensive lineman because sportscenter and fox announcers point out that Drew Bledsoe gets sacked a lot; which is true, but often times he had good pass protection and just held the ball too long. Rob Petitti did struggle against dominating defensive ends like Michael Strahan, but I think the Cowboys will add a free agent tackle to compete for the job. After drafting Jacob Rogers it has soured Bill and Jerry on drafting lineman, and especially in the first round. That is why the Cowboys will take the best player available between linebacker and wide receiver. Santonio Holmes is the best player available and gives the Cowboys another future receiver opposite of Patrick Crayton.

With the eighteenth overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft the Dallas Cowboys select
Wide Receiver Santonio Holmes, Ohio State PMR=81

no you get one maybe 2 if you are lucky. Then pick one up in the third or fourth round and we will be ok. Much better chance of finding a good lineman in round 4 than a wide reciever

I don't even know where this comes from. Both knew Rogers was a HUGE risk out of college (he wasn't a 1st rounder, btw), and solid offensive linemen taken in the 1st round rarely, if ever, bust. Guys like Jean-Gilles, Mangold or McNeill are pretty much sure things.

Knowing how Parcells just can't seem to get enough LBs, I think he'll go LB with our first pick unless someone else, somehow falls through the cracks to us. If not though, I think Parcells will do everything possible to pull the trigger on a LB, and will then "hopefully" take a WR shortly thereafter. I believe Johnson will be 33 next season and Glenn will be 31, we need an infusion of youth the WR spot. Crayton has been a nice surprise so far, but... we can't continue to assume that our other current young WRs will also develop as Crayton has to this point.

This draft is fairly weak at Wide Reciever.

Santonio Holmes is a good prospect with good hands and is extremely fast.

He had an okay season at Ohio State, but Ted Ginn Jr. definately took alot of pressure off of him, especially late in the season.

One Mock Draft I saw, had us taking the kid out of ASU, Derek Hagan. He is a nice size receiver at 6-2 and has good hands but is not a burner.

I have heard the 2007 Class will be Wide Receiver Strong.

I seen that mock draft also. I said in another post a few weks back, about drafting Holmes at #18. Mel Kiper has, or did have him at overall 16th best available.

Now if a bluechip type LB who can start immediately is there, I think BP may go that direction depending a few things. Holmes can be an impact at PR & KR right away, and will learn at WR behind Glenn, Johnson and Crayton. That is why I say a LB if there may be our #1. However, it depends who is available in the 2nd. If a very good LB will be there, than Holmes makes more sense. If a decent WR is there in the 2nd, then the LB.

Of course, I, as many will probably be wrong, but it is our armchair opinions.

I don't think we will draft a lineman early because we only NEED a center. When FA comes back at LT then I think TT will be moved to RT then all we really need to do is replace Al Johnson. After that I think we will have a solid line and can use our picks to fill small gaps at LB and FB.

TT has played RT before and was replaced. He's a backup guard at best.

How many 1st rounder wide receivers turn out to be great? Plus we have the O-line to address as well as FS and LB's.

Parcells has said many times throughout his career that it isn't worth taking a WR in the 1st round because of how risky they are and how so few actually do well in the NFL.

Why would he change this year with so many other glaring holes on our team and much better prospects at other postions that WR?

We need a WR, actually, we need 2 receivers but that's another thread! I agree the prospects at receiver are not impressive this year. I would be happy with an offensive lineman in the first round. Trying the economy route hasn't proven to be successful with drafting offensive lineman during the Parcells period.

I believe we will adress the offensive line with two FA signings.

The draft will be LB, FS, and WR (best player available) hopefully.

I agree think Dallas will add Olinemen and a FS via FA, but it would be hard to pass on a stud OT in the first round if a sure thing falls to them. I believe they will draft playmakers at LB, Dline, WR. I hope they dont take a WR in the middle of the first round recent history has shown you can get playmakers at WR later in the draft.

nothing in the draft is a sure thing

and name to remember, Jeff Faine, 1st round pick by the Browns, C, and he hasn't exactly done anything in this league

no WR in the 1st

alot to be had in the 2nd/3rd, and later, that have as much potential as Holmes; Demetrius Williams, TOdd Watkins, Martin Nance, Maurice Stovall
