Way back in the leather helmet days when I played, we just made it our mission to beat who they put in front of us, never paying much attention to who it was. Now I will say I know the days rest between games is a real issue but if I'm not mistaken the Cowboys didn't get the stupid 3 games in 11 or 12 days around Thanksgiving nonsense this season so they caught a break there. No one will ever convince me that meat grinder does not have lasting effects on the guys' bodies during the stretch run and into the playoffs. So I'm really happy we don't have to do it. That does still mean two Thursday games and I think I heard two Monday night games too but this team should be able to manage that. My main hope is that the Cowboys be the better team come game time. If they are, then they will win most of their games. If they're REALLY good they'll win almost all of them and have HFA in the playoffs. But we won't know the answers to those questions until they play some games. But this business about fretting over how "tough" the schedule is? Man that's for the birds. Line up and play football.

Oh wow I had not even noticed that they did it to us anyway.. just moved it up a week. Which I still contend is better than the other way around. Having that meat grinder end on Thanksgiving followed by 10 days off should be superior physically to having it end the week after Thanksgiving. But yeah, Goodell managed to sneak a compressed set of games in there per usual. Female Parent Fornicator!

Well even though most of that makes a lot of sense,

I can make it much simpler than that..

why are you worried about strength the schedule when they're determining it by what you did the year before that has nothing to do with the teams they've assembled and how each week things change injuries, players lost and gained, and where you meet and when you meet a team... Them using their strength of schedule by the way a team finished the year before has nothing to do with this year's schedule, absolutely doesn't..

the teams maybe pretty good at their core but that doesn't mean they're going to be anywhere near as good or as bad as the year before.. you're going to meet some teams you thought were going to be easy to beat and they're going to step up and punch you in the mouth because it's not the same team.. so SOS is nearly useless in the real world it's just something to use to talk about IMHO

I know it seems fun the fans to look at the schedule and just start putting W'S&L's by the games and that's just not how it works

I'd rather they have a tough schedule. No puffing their chest out after beating scrubs 48-6. It never translates with these guys. They eat the cheese and then fall to pieces the moment they get hit in the mouth. I'm sick of the ****** nonsense.

Fans want to see their team win. This team didn't exactly add much impact talent so they are a bit worried.

Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but wouldn't any team that plays on a Thursday night have 3 games in 11 days? I guess the exception would be a bye week on either side of that game.

I mean we have this early in the year too with three games from the 15th - 26th of September because of TNF.
  • Week 2: New Orleans Saints (Sun. 9/15, 12:00 p.m. on FOX)
  • Week 3: Baltimore Ravens (Sun. 9/22, 3:25 p.m. on FOX)
  • Week 4: at New York Giants (Thurs. 9/26, 7:15 p.m. on Prime Video)

Is there just some specific issue around Thanksgiving that I'm missing?

Another question would be, if the NFL is so concerned about head injuries, or even just injuries in general, why subject teams to play 3 games in 11 days?
The answer is, of course, for the $money$.

Since the salary cap is tied to increase in media rights revenue, by agreement with the players’ union, the players are complicit. Every player has the right to retire at any point in their contractual obligation to a team. So stipulated in the CBA. If you had to live on the difference between owners’ greed and players’ greed you’d starve to death.

The owners have tax payers pay for “their” stadiums. They also pay those same type of folks that gave them taxpayer money to give them absurd tax rates lower than yours. Thats a unique level of greed.

The players are both the product and the labor in this instance and have a short time span to make money while breaking their bodies and heads.

Let’s not make false equivalencies please.

Good thing about our team is we have a ton of young players. Younger players tend to do better with short weeks than an older squad.

I personally like our upcoming schedule with our young team. We’ll see if we’re good or not. Not a lot of fluff teams so if/when we reach 10 wins it’ll be more exciting. Hopefully we’ll get to 10 wins. We’ll know a lot after the first month.

I also believe in the old adage “it’s not who you play but when you play them”. The Eagles were a great example of that last season.

I think it’s hypocritical of the NFL to say all the right things about player safety but then add a Thursday night game. It’s about the money and it sucks. I just wish the NFL would stop the talk and walk the walk with player safety.

Personally, I'm not fretting at all. Looking forward to the first 7 games. Lots of tough defenses in there based on last year. Should give us answers to a lot of questions real fast.
