Why Shawne Merriman would be great for the Cowboys

:america:In my last thread I touched a little bit on why I thought Wade should not be fired. Part of what I said was that for some reason players do well under his system. Shawne Merriman is one of those players that did well under Wade's defensive system. So if Jerry made a play for him, that would give us 3 players that originally played under Wades system. Kieth Brooking even admitted that some of his best years were when he was playing under Wade. That would also line Merriman opposite Ware. We would have a very effective, potent, and dangerous pass rush, and Merriman could be a spark that we need if Jerry made a play for him. Ware, Spencer, Brooking, James, and Merriman now tell me that doesnt sound good to you. I know many of you are against bringing him here because of the steroid allegations or because of his injuries. But just admit he is effective when he is healthy. so what do you guys think?

We have Spencer so I dont exactly suggest we bring him in...but his ties to Phillips are indeed a valid reason to at least take a look.

You can never have too many pass rushers.

Victor Butler >>>>>>>>>>>>> Merriman

Seriously, its time to cease with the Merriman love. The guy hasnt been relavent in several yrs.

what happen to victor butler. They barely play him in games

It's called Wade Phillips' Bane.

I would def kick the tires on this guy. Change of scenery can often times be huge when it comes to resurrecting some players careers.

If you wanted to give Merriman a shot at redemption in Wade's defense for the rest of the season and send Brandon Williams packing, I wouldn't cry about it.

Truth here.

ok how bout he is a woman beater?

i would love for wade to come up with a package that has ware, butler, and spencer rushing the qb on third down passing situations like we did when greg ellis was here. ware and butler as the outside rushers and spencer as one of the rushers beside ratliff sort of like the giants do with tuck and their passrushers.

I wouldn't mind Merriman depending on if he still has anything left. But to keep Wade just for the fact that he brings out the best in three players on the team is not the way to go.

And Victor Butler needs to be in a 4-3 defense. He only comes in the game when they play four down linemen.

Shawne Merriman hit Tila Tequila, so that's enough to make me want to bring him in for a high five at least.

Joking aside, he's not going to get on the field ahead of Spencer, so what would be the point?

You think a 26 year old who has a 17 sack season on his resume is going to come be a backup? He'll end up on a 3-4 team with a chance to start once he's healthy again.

Merriman is completely irrelevant post steroids and having sustained multiple injuries. The guy is a complete waste of time, especially considering we already have Ware and Spencer.

Spencer, whatever happened to this guy I though he was tearing it up and a person who couldn't be blocked in preseason?

Sure I'd bring Merriman in... as the head coach. Couldn't be worse then what we have now.

Roids is the only thing that can resurrect Merriman's, unless he's some kind of ST superman he's useless to us he'd be like the #4 OLB on the roster
