I feel like there is a new thread every hour bashing this guy. I'm not claiming he's the end all be all, and I too was hoping for something more, but I don't think I've seen a Cowboy hated this much since Quincy Carter. If you didn't know this team's roster, you might actually think Jaylon is the quarterback.
Are we mad at him for not living up to this contract? Tank hasn't had double digit sacks in 2 years. He's supposed to be our defensive MVP! Coop might be playing for his contract life this year. Zeke hasn't been Zeke since the big money. Tyron Smith. Here's a scary fact: Other than Zack Martin, I don't think there is a single player on this team who either got better or dominated the same since their contract year. (Shout out to Travis Frederick who might be on this list too if not for that damn disease!)
If I'm upset with a linebacker, it's LVE. He WAS a first round pick. We were sold the bill of health on him. We knew Jaylon was a big gamble from the start. And LVE showed a hell of a lot more potential his first year. Randy Gregory was another gamble in the second round. Dude can't even stay sober for a year but we still love him. Chidobe Awuzie, Connor Williams, other second round picks, haven't done more than Jaylon.
I remember an article from a local sports rag about a rumor that players thought Jaylon was a glory hound and pissing off players, but I never heard anything since. Did I miss a blog about this? Is that what this is based on? Or are we holding his original draft position against him, when he was at one time going to be a top five pick before he tore the hell out of his knee?
It's always disappointing when a player doesn't become the dominator we thought he might be, but just saying, Jaylon is really getting it hard from the fans here.
