Why so much hate against Jaylon?

I feel like there is a new thread every hour bashing this guy. I'm not claiming he's the end all be all, and I too was hoping for something more, but I don't think I've seen a Cowboy hated this much since Quincy Carter. If you didn't know this team's roster, you might actually think Jaylon is the quarterback.

Are we mad at him for not living up to this contract? Tank hasn't had double digit sacks in 2 years. He's supposed to be our defensive MVP! Coop might be playing for his contract life this year. Zeke hasn't been Zeke since the big money. Tyron Smith. Here's a scary fact: Other than Zack Martin, I don't think there is a single player on this team who either got better or dominated the same since their contract year. (Shout out to Travis Frederick who might be on this list too if not for that damn disease!)

If I'm upset with a linebacker, it's LVE. He WAS a first round pick. We were sold the bill of health on him. We knew Jaylon was a big gamble from the start. And LVE showed a hell of a lot more potential his first year. Randy Gregory was another gamble in the second round. Dude can't even stay sober for a year but we still love him. Chidobe Awuzie, Connor Williams, other second round picks, haven't done more than Jaylon.

I remember an article from a local sports rag about a rumor that players thought Jaylon was a glory hound and pissing off players, but I never heard anything since. Did I miss a blog about this? Is that what this is based on? Or are we holding his original draft position against him, when he was at one time going to be a top five pick before he tore the hell out of his knee?

It's always disappointing when a player doesn't become the dominator we thought he might be, but just saying, Jaylon is really getting it hard from the fans here.

A near $10 million cap hit this year for a liability on the field who is - at best - this team's 4th string linebacker.

And $7 million in dead money when they cut him next year.

This site, and from many fans "likers" and "dislikers", seem to need a whipping boy, or actually man as that is what they are, every year, or some is ongoing for years. Sometimes 2 several players are on the list. Some deservedly so. Some not, but the ones that are, don't really deserve it, but someone will have an agenda to start in on a player. Then many others will follow, like they feel they need to. Again, some deserve it, some may not.

Jaylon should get criticism, but not to the degree he gets on here. Or at least see what happens this year. I think in this case, it is more his contract and his production since then.
So I understand that. As it was basically like Crawford, over paid, under perform. For real, not just for expectations. Some think bigger the contract bigger expectation.
By that I mean unrealistic expectations.

After Jaylon is gone, expect next whipping man up threads to start.

He’s perpetrating the stigma that Cowboys players play big to get that monster deal and then “retire.”

So when fans bash Jaylon, they’re not just trying to improve the team, they’re fighting for the very soul of Dallas’s honor.

go away with this cornball take the soul of dallas’s honor???? lmao he sucks and is oblivious case closed

I don't hate him personally and I kind of understand the contract after he did very well in 2018. It seemed like a bargain at the time assuming he would maintain that level of play. I do, however, despise his lack of self-awareness when it comes to swiping and celebrating down 30. And I'm not sure what happened after 2018 but his level of play declined significantly. No reason to bash him but I'm glad he's not starting anymore.

Extremely cocky (almost to the point to where he's completely delusional), high price tag, and emphasizes the teams overall poor history of 2nd round selections.

I'm not saying it's justified or not i'm just highlighting what people don't like

This is it. The guy is an insufferable self promoter that has zero self awareness.

I honestly think there's some underlying issues there for some fans. I don't know what it is. I would say jealousy, maybe? I don't know what it is.

Because no matter of how good or bad you think Jaylon is.....he did not sign himself to a contract and he did not just get bad out of nowhere. His body seems to be failing him. Its sad to see honestly so I can't really fathom the hate when its his body that's failing him.

People will say its because he "swipes" or he has a sunglasses line...crap excuses to me but it is what it is. I hope he can have a bounce back season with less reps.

He could be making $4 per game and it wouldn’t matter to me. The dude can’t play and is a liability. I’ve been consistent since day one. Unfortunately he hasn’t proven me wrong…..

Well he proved you wrong in 2018 lol....every other year yeah he's proven you right lol.

There's nothing cocky about him but for argument's sake let's say he is....should he be a little more submissive for you? Would that make things better?

combo of where he was picked, the agonizing wait, the tease of promise early, the unwarranted extension, his play regressing handily and his ego and self awareness going in opposite directions
I concur . . . but his limited role should actually be a plus . . . He will be put in situations to succeed while limiting his opportunities to fail.

I believe He will be strickly a down hill Player

I don't hate him, I hate the impact he makes on the salary cap for the lack of impact he makes on the field.

Simple as that

I think what many get frustrated about has nothing to do with money per say (although myself and others did not think he was worth the extension) but rather his on the field performance. He seems delayed in his reaction to a play, jumps on the pile to get his stats, and dances around celebrating the most inconsequential plays as if drawing attention to himself for....nothing.

While people are frustrated with LVE it's because of his recent injuries as he has shown himself to be a very good LB, unlike Smith.

So when Smith is behind rookie Parsons. oft-injured LVE, free agent Neal, and barely ahead of rookie Cox then people take notice.
