Why sunday night is a must win

The clown Rob Ryan was correct:

We will whip the all-hype team. Ware will mount a personal war agin vick and his runners.

Forget this crap. I don't care if we're 13-1 or 1-9. I don't care if it's playoff aspirations or draft positioning on the line. I despise the Eagles. I hate them. I have utter contempt for their fans. They suck. I don't care what the records are. A game with an NFC East opponent is always a must win.

I like your line of thinking...

Are we going to have this conversation every week?

Every game is a must win it's just that simple. Unless we're guaranteed a playoff spot, I don't look at any game less important.

Not if you're 13-1 and have the No. 1 seed locked up.

Or, if you're 2-10 and simply waiting to see which draft pick you get.

I don't see it that way. Each game should be played like it's a must win game. If a team overlooks an opponent they are likely to lose.

To me, "must-win game" means that, if you lose, your chances of achieving your goals are essentially gone. By that measure, this is not a must-win for the Cowboys, because even if we lose, I see many ways we can make the playoffs and even win the division.

Now, for Philly, this is a must-win, because if they lose, I don't see any realistic path that gets them there, given the position they'll be in and their upcoming schedule. Sure, it's still possible, but the odds become way too long.

Given my definition above, it follows that every game for Miami and Indy is a "must-lose" game.

"Playing it like it's a must-win game" doesn't make it a must-win game. The players shouldn't be thinking about all this "must-win" stuff - they should be going all out to win every week, obviously. But none of us are suiting up on Sunday - that frees us up to keep a little perspective.

We are thinking the same thing but saying it differently. What I'm trying to say is a player should never have the attitude of we don't need to win this game.

There is a ton on the line in this game for both teams.

For Dallas, it's a chance to get to 4-3 and 4-1 in the NFC and 2-0 inside the division. I think Dallas will win the division if they win this game, just like 2007 and 2009. Remember, the Giants have already won this game, too. This win could set the tone for the rest of the season in the NFC East.

For Philadelphia, if they lose this game, the best they can finish is 3-5 (after the first 8 games). I think a loss crushes their "Dream Team" aspirations.
