Considering the recent interview/article from MacMahon, many of you out there might be wondering why much of the fandom is asking for a GM to be hired not named Jerry. The real problem in my mind is the conflict of interest. Jerry the owner understandably so is concerned about the business side of things. His decisions are supposed to fuel growth in terms of revenue. The GM of a football team is concerned with making the team better. The problem is, many decisions put the owner and GM at odds. This evidenced by picking up flashy players with little substance. Sure they sale more tickets and merchandise, but they are rarely condusive to winning football games. This is why, despite what Jerry might believe, the Cowboys are at an extreme disadvantage compared to other teams that don't have a meddling owner/GM.
