Why the Cowboys offense should average over 30 points per game in 2024

Story by One Cool Customer

Did you know that no other NFL team scored more points over the last three seasons than the Dallas Cowboys? Not only that, but the Cowboys led the league in scoring in 2021 (530 points), ranked third in 2022 (467 points), and again led the league last year (509 points).

On a per-game basis, that averages out to 31.2 points per game in 2021, 27.5 in 2022, and 29.9 in 2023, one point shy of averaging exactly 30 points for the season.

Last season, the Cowboys tied a franchise record by scoring 30+ points in 10 games for only the second time in franchise history, equaling the 2014 team (that played only 16 games).

Why is all this relevant? The Cowboys’ record over the last three years in games where they scored 30+ points: 21-2. If you’re looking for a shortcut to the playoffs, scoring 30+ points per game would be a convenient way.

In a similar vein, 29 NFL teams have averaged more than 30 points per game (480 points per season until 2020, 510 points since 2021) since realignment in 2002, and all but one of those teams made the playoffs.

Last year, teams were 103-15 when scoring 30 points or more for a cool .873 winning percentage. Applying that winning percentage to a 17-game schedule gives you a 15-2 record.

But.......... I heard the Dallas offense is horrible, especially in the playoffs, because they have no run game, a bad o'line, and terrible receivers. How is this possible?

Notice I left 1 key position out of this? He never does anything wrong, or so I have been told countless times.

Playing the Giants twice a year sure helps the average.
Also, they scored 56 against the Red Skins a couple years ago. The Cowboys are bullies. Then they show up in SF and lose 42-10.
They play the same teams that every team plays.

We scored them against sub .500 teams at the time we played them
Hit us up again when we can score more than 20 points on the Niners and where are those scores in the playoffs?
Man this squad has made there bones 8 years now vs the weak NFC East.

The NFL is the NFL. To bad mouth everything that the Cowboys do is just totally ignorant.
Hilarious that someone who thinks every team has identical schedules would call anyone ignorant.
Rambo's been electrocuted too many times...lol.

I predict that you look pretty silly with all of your negative predictions.
Not negative but REALITY..................you see the schedule?
You expect Dak to score how many points against the Browns,Steelers, Niners,Lions, please do tell.
He will do his stat-bandito vs the Giants and Saints and that's all she wrote.

Having to score 30 points to win games is a strong indicator of a crappy team.

The schedule is not identical. Your comment was lazy and wrong.
Oh and NFL teams are not NFL teams and the league leader actually sucks. They are only the league leader because they played the Giants and the Washington team. Oh really, tell us that we suck.
