Why the hate for Vanderjagt?

Why all the name calling?

What has he done that is so heinous?

He called out Peyton Manning for throwing too many interceptions in the post season, can you argue with that?

I know it's always better to make your point man to man rather than through the media, but come on...

Agreed. I just think he's an easy target.

I have no idea!

You'd figure after Cortez, Cundiff (twice) and some Shaun guy--we'd be pumped at the prospects of landing Vanderjagt.

I am for him. Not in a Brokeback way, like some are for AV, but still like him. He will be a half million cheaper. Lets Jerruh save face about not spending big bucks on a kicker.

To call someone out in public like that is crazy. When was the last time he played QB? When was the last time he spent more than 30 seconds at a time on the field? He should have just gone directly to Manning. Then, to turn around and miss an important FG in post-season. Why that's just hypocritical. On top of all that, he can call out someone else's performance to the media, but he isn't even good enough to kick off.

Seriously. Look at what we've had the last few years, we should feel lucky to possibly get someone as good as Vanderjagt.

Peyton called out his entire line through the media after another chokejob in the playoffs this year...So he's no better than Vanderjagt in that respect.

Sure, and he admitted as much and later apologized.

He followed that up by not missing a *SINGLE* kick in the regular season. Not one. 40 of 40, with a long of 50. 51 of 51 on PAT's (we couldn't even do *that* right this year)

I just find it odd that the same group of people clamboring to sign TO, who is known to insult anyone and everyone within striking distance without remorse, are the same ones calling this guy names.

It's a good question, maybe people just don't like kickers (I'm not all that fond of them, myself). But as I posted in another thread, this guy is 95% accurate with kicks of 40 yards or less, and in his 8 year career has only ever missed 8 total field goals from that range. The Cowboys, by contrast, missed 10 field goals of that range in 2005 alone !!

Funny how some people don't want vanderject because he's a jerk, but some of the same people would love to bring in the bigest jerk in the NFlL(the world?) T. Owens!

I don't know him personally, but I've heard he's an arrogant drunk.

Well, I've got no problem signing him but I think it will cause problems in the field position game. He can't KO, and if McBriar can't either we'll be screwed because you know Parcells isn't going to carry a KO specialist.

He's a jerk, but he's not a jerk on the "TO Level" so I can still stand him.

My only concern with his play is that he can't kick off.

I think when you have a chance to get a guy like Vinatieri and dough head is who we're left with, it's pretty frustrating.

I don't want him because he really isn't that much of an improvement over what's already in Dallas.

His career percentage is artificially high because he's always kicked in above average conditions, be it the dome at home or in some of the better kicking stadiums in December division away games.

Dallas already has a QB that's shown to be below average in inclement weather, they don't need a kicker with questions in the same area.

He also lost a playoff game. Find me the last kicker who didn't have a significant dropoff in performance after having that happen.

Well when he goes out and chokes in the playoffs himself, it makes him look like the arrogant jerk he really is.
