Why the Ratliff hate?

I guess you didn't see the same thing either when they played SD. I know what I saw so I'll keep saying the same thing.

I just went back and rewatched the SD game. You do know that Ratliff is #90 right?

Not seeing anything you are. Sorry.

This!

And THIS is what happened.

If you actually paid attention to what happened, Ratliff was getting bullrushed out of the lane and both blockers were getting to the second level and taking out LBers too. But, by all means, keep the blind homer schtick going.

Three different coaching staffs have played him at the NT spot.

When will people accept that he's not going to be playing DE? Fans/media have been pushing this for years and yet he's still playing NT.

You must have watched a different game then me. I didn't see him on the ground once. Sealed with two guys on you is doing your job.

ILBs overunning was the main problem last night. If you haven't already, I would suggest rewatching the game and focusing on Ratliff.

I guess I have to resort to film.

10 seconds into the higlight reel:

1st Quarter - Vikings ball 3rd and 1, run right, 22 formation

Ratliff is taken to the ground by the LG only. You didn't see that? Maybe you took a bathroom break.

21 seconds into the video:

1st Quarter - Vikings ball 1st and 10, playaction, 22 formation

4 man rush, Spencer drops into coverage with the outside TE. Ratliff is doubled by the center and right guard and pushed back a yard maybe half a yard. Lissemore takes the right tackle and then the inside TE stays to help. Hatcher beats his man too late to get to McNabb, and Ware can't beat the LT and is chipped by AP on his way to McNabb. Elam could have made a play but it's game of inches and he's short. Ratliff and Lissemore are the only two still around at the LOS. Stopped cold.

This was just two plays, I guess I could pull of the whole game and study him but this was just from the highlight reel from the mothership. Once again I am sticking with what I said, Ratliff was on the ground, and didn't get penetration. Good 3-4 NTs can take on double teams and disrupt the pocket.

a 4-3 team, that really needs a dt would cough it up

I like Rat but if we could get even a second for him I'd take that in a heart beat.

Jay Ratliff turns 30 tomorrow. No team is giving up a 1st rounder for a 30 yr old DL, noticably in decline, with the intent to play him at a new position.

Zero chance.

I seriously doubt we could get a 2nd for him.

Didn't know he was 30 tomorrow.. The jump between 29 & 30 is huge in trade value. For example next year Ware is worth a first and a second or so, this year 2 firsts no problem.

I don't wanna trade Ratliff, but for the sake of argument, the Raiders gave up a 1st for Seymour.

Just as an aside, it should also be noted that Richard Seymour was a former first round draft selection.

ware is worth what we are willing to take for him and it would take both of your statements combined before we would even entertain the idea

I guess an unspoken caveat on everything posted that concerns a trade, draft, or contract is that Al Davis might do anything.

In any event, the #1 is discounted, since they gave up a 2011 #1 for Seymour in 2009.

Past draft status has no relevance when trading proven veterans. Igor Olshansky was selected in the 2nd round, and as we know, Ratliff was a 7th rounder.

Who gets more value in the trade market?

From Broaddus himself:

@BryanBroaddusBryan Broaddus
@Bluestang2OO6 got doubled a lot, able to fight thru a couple of plays. Had a pressure from LBer spot. Had some trouble in running game.

If you guys look at my post #65 (ironically enough) I broke down two plays that are featured on the mothership's website.

on the posts i quoted only tnew has agreed with you

read the whole thread...

everybody knows hes not the NT we need, you must not watch the game, or know a thing about it

he would be a great DE in our scheme, or a good NT if all teams did was pass

The problem with a lot of threads like this is that they take a grain of worthwhile observation and bury it under tons of horse poop.

You should never quote Broaddus because this thread will now turn into a we must discredit Broaddus as an out of work know-nothing scout convoluted mess.

If I had to choose between the two players mentioned, I would select Jay Ratliff over Igor Olshansky. He is the more proven of the two at this stage of their respective careers. However, it would be highly spectulative how high the pick compensation would be trading Ratliff.

I heard someone else say something similar to this, and I think this goes overlooked by alot of people. Rat will be fine this year if Spears is healthy. I have faith in Ratliff, unlike some.
This for sure. Ratliff's declining play is just as indicative of how important Spears is to this team as anything.
