Why trading up was smart.

I think it's better to trade down, every time, to maximize late 1st round and 2nd round value myself. But I think the only reason it was smart is that there is a new playing field with the rookie salary cap.

If you can get a QB, CB, LT, or pass rushing DE at WELL BELOW FREE AGENT PRICES, you really should do it. It's a financial decision as much as anything else.

It was a smart decision. Cox, Baron and DeCastro should all be gone by 14.
 
Frankly Claiborne was the one guy worth trading up for, I didn't think they would do it though.
 
This is exactly right. We lost a second round pick and got back 8 million in salary cap.
 
There were 6 elite players in this draft.
Of those 6 they got the one they wanted.
