Because he was no longer the Bailey you felt comfortable with. It turned out to be not a bad move. We just haven’t been able to replace him.

Bailey missed 25% of his field goals in his last season here and he missed a couple XPs that season too. He was heading in the wrong direction. In 2020, Bailey made only 68% of his field goals and he missed 6 extra points.

The automatic Dan Bailey you remember only exists in your memories. Stop pretending he'd make every kick anyone else misses.
