GM rather than Ireland?

Or put another way, does anyone think Pioli (sp?) gets lured away from NE?

When I look at the D Lions, given the choice between M Millen as GM or Pioli, isn't the choice obvious?

And frankly said, isn't Pioli the one who put together this fearsome WR corps? He's a proven winner in the league as well.

(Not that I am disrespecting what Ireland has done in anyway . . . . )

I don't think Ireland is the only option for Parcells. I think he is looking at several candidates and perhaps Pioli is one of those candidates.

I hope BP seriously considers Pioli instead of Ireland! Though I'm not sure if Pioli would want to work with BP as I don't know their work relationship history.

Though isn't one of BP's daughters married to Pioli?

Yes, I believe one of his daughters is married to Pioli. That said, why would Pioli leave a great GM situation in New England? Remember, Parcells inquired about him coming to Dallas, and he declined. If Ireland goes to Miami, he will once again fall in Parcells' shadow. Of course, he would get more money.

Is Pioli offically the GM in NE? I thought his title was similar to Ireland's?

But you're right, the money would likely be a lot more.

Would you want to work for your father-in-law? Especially if it was Bill Parcells and the gigantic persona he carries in the NFL.

Why leave NE to work in Miami with possibly less control? And the bigger question, why in world would anyone want to work for their father-in-law when their current situation is arguably better? My father-in-law is great, but I would never want to work for him.

It is always hard to know what someone may do. If the right offer was made then yes Pioli could take it. Same could be said for Ireland.

Well, Parcells will probably only stick around for his 4 years, and after that, maybe Pioli could/would take Parcells' job?

That would make Pioli one of the most powerful men in the NFL and in sports management in general. That would be the closest Pioli could get to owning a sports franchise without actually owning one.

I don't know, but according to half the posters here, our guy should be falling all over himself to do that very thing.

One other reason why BP may try and get a sweet heart deal for Pioli is Pioli is part of the NE brain trust who is in Maimi division. You help yourself and take the competition down a notch. 2 birds 1 move. :laugh1:

Kraft won't willing let Pioli go? Anyway why leave a GM job in NE to go down to Miami. He'd be in the same situation. Belicheat involved in making major decisions and in miami Parcells would always be looking over his shoulder. Also like everybody saying, why work for your father in law.

But he's not the GM. He's the Vice President of Player Personnel . . . . unless that means the same thing in NE.
