It's simply a sentiment because of what New Orleans has had to endure the past few years.

The title is still ours. People aren't going to forget that the Cowboys are America's Team.

But if the Saints want to wear the title for one night, we're generous and secure enough (5 Super Bowl wins, 8 Super Bowl appearances) to share it. :)

blah!

its just something they want to imply on them. but you cant just imply random names or things on something. 90% of rational football fans know who Americas Team really is. (as hard as it probably is to admit for many)

just wait till we get to the superbowl again and win. WE WONT NEED the media to call us that. you will be able to TELL....

its what we are....we're the cherry on top of the NFL in almost every aspect.

Let em enjoy the title. They worked hard for it. We beat them, and the rest of our NFC East Rivals couldn't beat them. So think about that.

I have no problem "lending" it to the Saints for one season... Dallas has had plenty of time in the sunshine.

Who cares?

Is the title really that important?

Its like some fans are looking for an additional reason to root for Dallas.

If Dallas would have never been "America's Team", would you root for them any less?

If the answer is yes, you're a fraud.

Oh please.

New Orleans has been through a lot, doesn't mean that the Saints "deserved" this because of all that. They deserve it because like every Super Bowl winner, they turned it on when they needed to do it.

Agreed, 'Americas Team' is stoopid, its time to get over it.

HUH?!

I havent watched NFL Network religiously over the past 2 weeks, but I did watch the last part of NFL GameDay Final.

The last segment Eisen asked for the guy's predictions for next year's Super Bowl.

When it got to Irvin, he said (and I paraphrase) "They said America's Team was in this year's Super Bowl, and America's Team will return to next year's Super Bowl. And America's Team IS THE Dallas Cowboys"

Endure the last few years? Talk about milking it, 2005 was half a decade ago. Cities like Houston and Pensacola have greater lasting grievance than New Orleans about the aftermath now as crime and unemployment were and are still effected by "refugees" that won't go home or work.

This is the Saints' moment in the sun, and I don't mind them borrowing the title for a few months. The truth is, the very next time they field a sub-par team, they will instantly lose the title and will be forgotten. The title simply has no staying power with them, or with anyone other than the Dallas Cowboys.

Kind of like when a team aptly named the "Patriots" won the Super Bowl after 9/11. Made for an easy, rootable story.

The Saints have the country's interest right now. They won't in a few years.

After the game, Irvin basically said there's one America's Team, but that he doesn't mind the Saints borrowing the title for a short time here.
