Wide Open!

I could have named this thread several different things:

-"Mr Perfect".....400 yards, 4 TD's and a "PERFECT" QB rating for Dak. This really is the beginning of the end for the Dak trolls. I couldnt be more pleased with the embarrassing season kickoff for them.

-"Zeke who"?........Nice to see Zeke, but this team is clearly more powerful with Dak leading the way and Moore calling the offense.

But what stood out to me the most tonight was how "wide open" these pass catchers were on these TD's.

Night and day. Moore had the opening night we could have only dreamed about. In a way it made me sad that we have wasted so many years under the horrid Garrrett and linehan led offenses. The scheme simply got guys "WIDE OPEN"!!

All night long. The play calling wasnt even anything spectacular, just a modern offense. We are finally beyond the Garrett horror show.

This WAS the Giants however and a few things of note.

This Dline was NOT good tonight. The pass rush was pathetic. And these DT's are a big problem. It needs to get fixed or better opponents will torch us. We can only hope that Quinn comes back in a few games and provides a rush from the other side. DT is another issue.
ok Dak was great no doubt, perfect rating is impressive, but 1 thing I noticed was he had lot of time and a clean pocket and little or no pressure for most of the game.
Dak has always been good when that was the case.
So the question is is our OL that good now, or are the giants that bad in pass rush??
I think the giants are just really bad in that area, and our OL is better now, but I want to see what happens when dak is getting a lot of pressure.

The Commanders didnt have much pass rush either in eagle game, and then next game is miami so we will have to wait on seeing how dak does
facing pressure.
The pass routes today were mostly crossing routes and slants, which have always worked good for dallas, they just never used them much.
Also Dak actually ran on the few read option plays they ran , I was shocked by that.

You can not discount the return of Fredrick, and the second year bulk of Williams.

The Cowboys O-line will have tougher tests, but they played well tonight in pass protection.

But we just drafted a guy in the second round. How is it not fixed?

Hopefully the offense can carry the defense. Because it appears that our problems from the Rams and Colts of last year are still hunting us.
I’ll tell you how it’s not fixed ...... the 2nd round guy won’t help for at least 2 years.

I think our DL will improve once they get past their offseason rustiness and into something closer to midseason form. Also, some of our younger linemen, like Hill and Jackson, should improve with added experience. Lawrence also stated that he wasn't happy with his performance. I suspect that he will improve as he gets his strength back in his previously injured shoulder. The return of Quinn should bolster our pass rush in game three.

Our WRs were a big part of our success Sunday. Cooper, Gallup, Cobb and Witten were too much for the Giants to handle, evidently. They're quite a load to handle for any team, to be sure. The Commanders will encounter some of the same problems that the Giants did when it comes to covering them. Our WRs should only get better as this season continues. Dak is truly blessed to have them and the reverse seems quite apparent, also.

The Cobb get was huge. He will be deadly here. Forget the pivot routes, the dude is an adrenalin shot.

That was a sick skinny post. The Giants won't be the only team vaporized by that play.

What in the world was GB thinking letting him break free?

The blocking was great no question but the Giants sold out a la Spagnola era Jints/Eagles on almost every big play. Dak was prepared to fight fire with fire. He was decisive and torched them over and over.

I'm telling you. When Defenses realize this isn't the 2017 Cowboys and start backing off a bit more often, Zeke will feast and it's a wrap.

This team has what it takes to go all the way. But the Defense MUST find their 2018 stride again. They were bad yesterday IMO. Not terrible, but bad.

Don’t discount Zeke and the running games absence today, there will be a time coming soon enough where it will be sorely needed.
I think the run game showed why being in game shape is important. But it also served as a foil for play action so it indeed did do what was intended of it.

give it a few more games before you draw any conclusions good or bad other than they played a really poor team.

Dak has played teams a lot worse than the Giants tonight.

What he did was different than he has in the past.

He was aggressive throwing the ball deep and down the middle. His best throw of the game was hitting Gallup in stride down the middle with a tight window. .

Loved the read option also. Keep defenses off balance.

It’s the giants so I’ll temper my excitement but I really think that Linehan was part of the problem a huge part in fact

Its pretty much everything that the Dak defenders have said was wrong the last couple years:

-Scheme and offense needed to be more wide open and creative, less predictable
-Oline needed to block better
-Needed some better quality pass catchers

Some talked about how they were just excuses for Dak. They are just the facts of any offense for a QB.

Dak has everything a QB could need right now and he is balling.

Several things are already plainly obvious. But the Giants do suck.

Garrett the dunce had the lowest percentage of play action passing when he was running the offense. Its where all the big plays happen. Mind boggling that some people thought that clown was any kind of genius.

Let's not forget sanjay lal. Best route running in years.

But more than anything, its the change in personnel. Going from route challenged receivers like Dez to guys like Cooper, Cobb, ect....ect...

lol It's only the end until next week when he doesn't have a stellar game. Thank goodness Dak doesn't read the forums.

Excellent post.

Next question...

Should the offense play great this year, Moore will probably get some looks for head coach. Young, great offensive minds are all the rage. Does Jerry keep Red over Moore?
