Although the majority of draft analysts are still putting West Virginia's Geno Smith at the top of their QB rankings for the draft, the endorsements have been neither overwhelming nor unanimous
As some of you predicted, the number of possible QBs taken in the 1st round could go up as we approach draft day.
Charlie Casserly says that the more he studies the film, the better Alex Smith looks—and thesmarter the Chiefs look for getting him for second.

Then again, with all of the varying ideas about the position, maybe nothing should surprise us.

Here are some other views:
- Greg Cosell (NFLNW) says as many as 4 QBs could go in the 1st round.
- Casserly says there is a chance that in 5 years, NONE of the QBs in this class will be starting in the NFL.
- Cosell said yesterday that Syracuse's Ryan Nassib is the best overall QB in the class.
- Mike Mayock said on Wednesday that the second best QB (behind Smith) is Florida State's EJ Manual.
- Bucky Brooks thinks that NC State's Mike Glennon the most gifted passer and has by far the best arm
- Mel Kiper has USC's Matt Barkley second behind Geno Smith.
- Kiper says possibly none of the QBs are 1st round worthy but 1 or 2 will go anyway
- Todd McShay (ESPN) ranks 1 QB (Smith) as 1st round worthy.
- Most analysts place Geno Smith way behind the top two last year and many place him behind Ryan Tannehill as well. But since Tannehill was drafted early nt e 1st round, that bodes well for Smith anyway.
- Pat Kirwan (CBS) has Barkley going before Smith in his mock draft.
- The other 5 CBS analysts all have Smith going in the top 10 and being the 1st QB taken. None of them have more than 2 QBs going in the 1st round.
Then again, with all of the varying ideas about the position, maybe nothing should surprise us.
