I like Miles Austin and Dez Bryant and do think there are several guy's that can make this team like a Cole Beasley and etc. but I don't like the fact Miles gets minor injuries and Dez could be in the Commish's office anytime with the off field crap. I do think we need a true #3 Receiver that can be plugged into Miles or Dez spots at anytime and the production want take a big hit. I honestly don't think that a Cole Beasley, Holmes or any of these guys could step into a #2 role and be that reliable. I do think they need to find another top notch Receiver that could be at least be plugged into the #2 spot.

Not worried about Dez getting suspended but him losing a few games to injury is a real possibility. You can count on Miles doing the same

I don't think we have our #3 on the roster right now

I can't wait for the forum rage when we bring back Crayton

Quiet...then we will have Ogletree, Crayton, then next thing you know, T.O. will be back....back to the future, but in a bad way....

We know Dez and Miles won't make it 16 games. Thats pretty much guaranteed.

Hopefully our defense will be a bit more reliable and our 3rd receiver won't matter that much.

but we really don't have someone that can step into the #2 and trully be a #2. Yes, I actually like Cole Beasley alot. I'm a huge SMU fan and remembered him at QB in High School before June Jones signed him and than converted him from QB to a Run and Shoot WR. I look @ him as a good #3 slot guy if Miles and Dez is #1 and #2 but if Miles or Dez go down Cole can't slide into either spot hes still in the slot so someone else has to be signed. I would like to think Ogletree could take those roles but man I'm not so sure.

If we are talking about a replacement for Dez or Miles when they are out, well, that is very different than a 3rd WR. I think we are fine with what we have as a 3rd WR to have out there when Miles and Dez are both playing.

But if they go down? I suspect they're hoping for Holmes or , gasp, Ogletree to maybe be that guy. Also, maybe Danny Coale (who is supposedly versatile). If they get into the middle of preseason and still aren't confident in them as backups, they may need to go find someone.

Beasley and Harris only fit the role where they would be in there with the big two still active...so in 3 or 4 WR sets.

Seahawks will most likely sign TO. We all know he can still play.

Don't be surprised if we bring in Sims-Walker, Crayton or even Burress in a few weeks. Miles hamstring already acting up is very concerning.

so you just stated a problem. same statement that has been made a 100 times. you don't offer a solution? nobody disagrees with your assessment. all you said, is that what we have is not good enough and we should get another WR, yet there are no other options.

so what's your solution? call -1800-need -wr?

Tim MacMahon just answered sort of the same qusetion tome in his chat. ;)

Comment From Coy
After one week of camp, who has the edge for the 3rd WR spot on the Cowboys?

Tim MacMahon (ESPNDallas):
Kevin Ogletree has an edge. He's actually looked decent out here, but as one source told me about Ogletree the other day, "Buyer beware."

I agree with this column by JJT: The No. 3 guy isn't on the roster right now.

We have ZERO depth at that position. It's a major concern. If even one of Miles or Dez gets injured we're screwed.

Should of signed a guy like Braylon Edwards. He's started before and he's played the backup role. Instead, we choose to have Dez pickup punt return duties with hardly any depth. I hope to God that changes when the season starts. I know I'm in the minority on this one, judging by the fan reactions in a previous thread posted earlier.

MSW....maybe.

I think we are in the waiting game mode. Some decent WRs currently on other rosters are going to get caught in the numbers game (both roster size and cost). If you wait just a short while, better players (or better fit) could become available, just like last year.

Some teams are really loaded at WR and they can't carry everyone. And if a decent veteran player drops in their depth chart below #3, they may make a salary move and drop him if they have young promising guys right there with him.

See James Jones in Green Bay as possible exhibit A.

We really need to get someone in here sooner than a few weeks. Sims-Walker would be my choice even with his injury history. Crayton to me is a been there done that and also wasn't really that good in SD. Burress too much baggage although very talented but I don't know if we need to this right now.

I just don't think we'll get lucky and wait until the last week of preseason or when the season first gets under way and get a receiver like Robinson again.

i'd rather have Plax then MSW IMO. Not sure if Plax is the "RKG" but i am more confident in him more then MSW. Just don't let him carry a gun to a night club in dallas.

Check out New Orleans depth chart. They really like at least 6 of those guys. Somethings gotta give.

Don't panic and rush for the scrap heap folks, as there could be a better player and fit a week or two later.

but still kinda glad we didn't pay Laurent Robinson the bucks he got overpaid. I think he was just a part of the System success with making plays after Romo held the ball too long. We'll see how he does in Jacksonville....

Crayton was never that good but he was always on the same page as Romo if the play broke down and Romo had to scramble Crayton much like Robinson last year just knew where to be. While he's certainly not as good as the other options he knows the offense and knows Romo. He's a guy you could bring inn in week 1 and play in week 2. He wouldn't be an exciting signing but he makes the most sense out of what is available

I'd say 2 weeks tops they wait before bringing in a noteworthy receiver.

I can see a high draft pick used next year on a WR.....the Miles terminal hamstring issue seems to be like it is going to be an annual event
