Wii sucessor to launch in 2012

Nintendo has officially announced its intention to release a new console in 2012. According to a note published this morning on the company's Japanese investor relations website, "Nintendo Co., Ltd. has decided to launch in 2012 a system to succeed Wii, which the company has sold 86.01 million units on a consolidated shipment basis between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011."

This is good to hear. My family has had the Wii since launch and it has served us very well.

Nintendo is a wonderful company w/ some of the best lines of games ever. They have probably the best line up of characters out there.

Kirby...just to name a few

They need a better system to compete w/ the 360 and the PS3 and I expect that is what we will get when this all comes together for the next platform in line from them.

Maybe this version will actually be HD, that'd be nice to have in 2012.

I just hope they don't try to get 3D involved in this thing, the 3DS is burning holes in kids retinas around the world as we speak.
