Hello YoMick ...why the disguise avatar-pic? Nevermind.

Anyway, seriously ...I saw the first couple of plays and my NFL sized nephews (still in high-School) took over the televisions throughout the house. Since I was a visiting relative, I really didn't want to pull the "Uncle-authority" drama and disrupt the flow or stand in the way of X-Box/PS-3/PS-2, and other games they received; so I took a back seat and only asked them about the score periodically.

Lost bet to Timbo.

Wimp. I thought you were a true diehard eagles fan. You let your nephews make you miss the game.

That would NEVER happen with me... and probably MOST Zoners.

they way we're playing at home with all the scalpers selling tickets to visiting fans i dont think it makes a difference for us. the last two home games this year where season lows.

Does it matter? Not really, if you look historically. In fact, for the past two years the #5 seed has advanced to the divisional playoffs and the #3 seed lost at home in the wildcard round.

Ironically, the last time a #3 seed won a playoff game was when Carolina beat Dallas in 2003.

Here's some information for you.

In 2005, Carolina was the #5 seed and the Bucs were the #3 seed. Carolina advanced over the Giants on the road and the Bucs lost to the 'Skins at home.

In 2004, St. Louis was the #5 seed and the Packers were the #3 seed. St. Louis advanced over Seattle on the road and Minnesota upset the Packers.

In 2003, the #5 seed lost in overtime. In 2002, the #5 seed lost by 1 point (that was the famous Giants-49ers game with the botched field goal at the end). In 2001 and before, the seeding was different because there were three divisions.

It just depends if you like to do things the hard way,or the easy way.I'd prefer the easy.

Quite honestly... I dont know how you could love the avatar pic? Green with envy maybe?

You certainly dont have anything to hang your hat on when it comes to the Eagles... unless of course.... regular season wins, some post season wins and TWO SuperBowl losses does it for you? :lmao2:

For this Eagles fan, "Family" far outweighs a Superbowl trophy that I will never possess personally (or hang my hat on) ...nor could you, unless you are a member of the Dallas Cowboysmy Superbowl wins!

Unless you're joking ...if your interpretation of being a "die-hard" Dallas Cowboys fan is placing your family over your family (especially during Christmas) ...then you sound as though you have not developed keeping things in perspective, nor balancing your football fanaticism with reality.

But surely you jest!?:(

It is "playoff berth" not "playoff birth."

Yeah, but despite the homophone spelling confusion, PT's actually hit on something.

For us, it may just be a "Wild Card Birth".

I like it!!!!

Here's the question ...

Does it matter that much if you enter the 2006 NFL Playoffs via NFC-East Champions or via a Wild Card Birth? I think we may need some help to get the NFC-East Championship ...uncertain about Dallas.

Yeah....it matters.....because...

I've been waiting 10 years to get another NFC East Champs hat and it was that close.

Beyond that.....the way Dallas is playing, it really doesn't matter.

The NFC East crown should (and does) have meaning because it means a team has weathered a tough road (at least in the NFC). The Eagles looked dominant against a struggling Cowboys team this week. The game was worse than the score indicated. The Cowboys playoff appearance will be brief this season in my opinion and that might actually be merciful.

What will lead to the kind of stark examination of our players and coaching that must come if we are to improve? I never hope for a loss, but I am convinced change must come to this team sooner rather than later. This December has convinced me a long journey remains to get back to the top. I would rather take the first steps now rather than go through another year of competing for overpriced band-aid free agents.

ya know as long as the team you are rooting for wins all its games after
week 17 it really doesnt matter if you are division champs or wild card
longshots.

Exactly. Ask the Giants how much they care that they won the NFC East, after they were bounced in the first round as the #3 seed. They didn't even score a point at home. Then they watched was Washington, the #5 seed, beat Tampa and went into the divisional round.

It's all about winning a Championship, especially for our franchise. What do seedings matter these days anyway, with four divisions? It only really matters if you get a bye week, IMHO.
